Yun Xiao Yi picked up the slightly worn, unenchanted leather boots and gave them a gentle shake. They were indeed somewhat battered and utterly unremarkable old items. In "My World," items do not display wear and tear; instead, their condition is represented by a decrease in Durability.
The four people around him were wide-eyed with astonishment, their eyes as round as copper bells. Zhao Yang's curiosity even surpassed the norm, with half of his body leaning over the water's edge, trying to glean some insight from the situation.
How did these boots end up in that pond? They had clearly seen that their master hadn’t thrown them in there. Who among you needs these boots?

With a hint of skepticism, Zhao An attempted to put on the boots once more. To his surprise, the leather boots indeed adjusted to his feet perfectly, slipping on with ease and providing a level of comfort far superior to his previous straw sandals. They were soft and flexible, feeling as if he were stepping on cotton candy.
Zhao An proudly showcased his newfound treasure to those around him, his face radiating with childlike joy. This scene caused Zhao Yun, who was witnessing such a fatherly image for the first time, to shake his head slightly in amusement. He then approached Yun Xiao Yi again and asked, “My lord, do these leather boots offer protective capabilities similar to the Iron Armor we had before?”
Yun Xiao Yi nodded in response. “Yes, they do, though their effectiveness is somewhat weaker—about half that of the iron boots.”
In the world of My World, each piece of equipment carried different defensive values. The defensive effects provided by various materials and types of armor varied significantly. For instance, non-magical iron boots could offer one tier of defense; under similar circumstances, leather boots could only provide half a tier.
Generally speaking, not all materials with higher quality necessarily yielded greater defense. While diamond armor and hell-forged armor did possess higher defense values, this rule did not apply universally. For example, golden armor had a lower defensive capability than iron armor due to gold's relatively soft material properties, limiting its protective effectiveness in combat.
However, Yun Xiao Yi often joked that this was merely the price of beauty when wearing such splendid golden armor on the battlefield—it was indeed eye-catching and handsome. Perhaps the allure of beauty was what people truly sought; strength might be temporary, but handsomeness was eternal.
Upon hearing that the leather boots possessed protective abilities akin to divine artifacts, Zhao An could hardly contain his excitement and eagerly wished to try them out.
"Brother Yun, would you like to stab me with a spear and give it a try?"
Hearing such words, Yun Xiao Yi couldn't help but cough in surprise. He thought to himself that if anyone else heard this, they might think it was some sort of joke.
Faced with the unusual situation, Yun Xiao Yi waved his hand dismissively, indicating that it was fine and that they could do as they pleased.
Zhao Yun took a deep breath to steady his nerves and asked his father, Zhao An, "Father, shall I begin now?"
Zhao An replied firmly, "Go ahead."
Zhao Yun gripped the spear tightly and casually swung it forward. Although he trusted that the divine artifact would provide protection, he was still stabbing toward his own father.
With a soft "thud," the sound of metal striking flesh echoed slightly differently than expected. The effect was akin to being fully defended by a single piece of equipment.
After being struck, Zhao An felt a significant impact and experienced considerable pain. However, upon checking the wound, he found only a slight trace of blood.
Considering the sharpness of the spear in Zhao Yun's hands, even a light touch could cause injury or be fatal. The fact that there was only a superficial wound confirmed that the Leather Divine Shoes had indeed worked effectively.
Zhao An squatted down contentedly to touch the shoes on his feet, a broad smile on his face. "Hehe, these boots are truly beautiful."
Standing aside and watching, Yun Xiao Yi understood that when the level of damage exceeded the maximum defense value of the armor, one would still sustain injuries. Just like Zhao Yun's strike had surpassed what the leather shoes could withstand, resulting in tiny wounds.
This was merely a superficial bruise; it was estimated that after resting for a day, Zhao An would recover most of his condition. Therefore, Yun Xiao Yi saw no need to treat him immediately.
At the same time, he noticed another detail: after enduring this impact, the durability of the leather shoes had noticeably decreased.
