Upon hearing these words, Zhao An, Zhu Ji, and Xiahou Xing visibly flinched, as if they had found a way to retreat. The pressure on all three of them seemed to ease.

Zhao An responded firmly, "Our Zhao Family upholds justice and has absolutely not diverted the Hutuo River."
Zhu Ji and the others, however, laughed skeptically. He questioned, "If that is true, then why are the waterwheels operating by the riverbank? The upstream fields are fully irrigated, while downstream there are only a few trickles of water. Is that not a fact?"
"We have been waiting for your response. Does the Zhao Family intend to bully us?" Zhu Ji's voice resonated with the crowd.
Yet Zhao An only sought to defend himself, insisting that this was a huge misunderstanding. The Zhao Family had not intercepted the river's water; the reduction in flow was due to natural disasters.
