Yun Yi did not respond directly, saying only that one could find out by asking in Zhao Family Village.
Guan Yu gazed at Yun Yi, puzzled.
The two continued on their way, and soon a village surrounded by compacted earth walls came into view.
At the entrance of the village, people were eagerly looking out, uncertain of whom they were waiting for. Suddenly, they noticed Yun Yi.
A wave of people surged forward, a sea of faces from afar. Despite the distance, their enthusiasm was palpable.
As they reached Yun Yi, however, they fell silent. In unison, they performed a traditional gesture of respect towards him.
"Welcome back, Zun Zhe."
Yun Yi shook his head, but a smile could not be hidden from his brow.
Zhao An and Zhu Ji stepped forward from the crowd.
"Sir, welcome back."
Yun Yi looked at them and pointedly remarked, "Was this welcoming ceremony organized by you? It should not be so extravagant; it wastes the villagers' efforts."
"I was merely away for a short time and did not go far from home. There is no need for such grand ceremonies."
Zhao An took a few steps forward and replied, "What you say will be remembered by us. However, this welcoming ceremony reflects the unanimous wish of the entire village. Everyone has been eagerly anticipating your return."
Yun Yi nodded slightly in acknowledgment.
"I'm back. This journey has gathered quite a few essential supplies. I won't be leaving the village again in the short term. My plan is to fully promote the development of Zhao Family Village."
"Oh, by the way, this is a remarkable individual I met during my travels. His name is Guan Yu, courtesy name Guan Chang. Don't let his youthful appearance fool you; he possesses both wisdom and courage."
Yun Yi's praise brought a hint of shyness to Guan Yu's face. At this stage, Guan Yu was still in his formative years, and his personality had not yet fully developed. Therefore, he did not yet possess the proud demeanor of someone who would question or critique everything around him.
He clasped his hands in greeting and politely responded, "You flatter me; I truly don't deserve such praise."
Clearly, Zhao An and the villagers would not underestimate Guan Yu because of his modesty. The fact that he had gained the favor of Zun Zhe and was brought back to the village meant that even a newborn would be held in high regard by them.
As a result, the villagers offered Guan Yu formal gestures filled with respect and courtesy.
After surveying the surroundings, Yun Yi noticed that the number of visiting villagers had significantly increased since his departure. It was evident that during his absence, Zhao Family Village had not merely pretended to comply with orders while secretly defying them; they had genuinely followed through on the refugee resettlement strategy he had previously established.
Everything seemed to be going smoothly.
Yun Yi felt a genuine sense of satisfaction as he patted Zhao An on the shoulder, praising him, "Well done. You've worked hard these past few days."
Zhao An humbly replied, "It was nothing really; I just did my small part."
