At eight in the evening, Li Hao was preparing to video call.
"Are you still at the film set?" Lin Xiao asked, noticing that the background behind Li Hao wasn't a hotel and there were faint sounds of noise around him.
"Yes, there's a night shoot today. Are you busy?"
"Still a bit." Lin Xiao thought for a moment before replying, "I went to see Luo Qianwei this afternoon. The Management Committee's finances are still being managed by Gengwei Town, and I wanted him to recommend two suitable finance personnel."
"What did he say?"
Li Hao enjoyed hearing about Lin Xiao's work; it made him feel more secure. Not only could he offer her some advice, but it also made him feel closer to her.
"He agreed and asked if I had any suitable candidates. I gave him two names."
"How do you know people in finance?" Li Hao asked curiously.
"By chance," Lin Xiao replied vaguely. She still kept in touch with Luo Qianwei and shared just enough to reassure Li Hao.
"Have you missed me?" Li Hao asked affectionately.
Lin Xiao realized that his question likely meant it was time for him to get back to work.
"I have, especially a lot," she admitted, feeling a pang of longing as she spoke.
"On the weekend, when you're not busy, bring Tian Tian to see me." Li Hao looked at Lin Xiao on the video call, feeling a mix of emotions as he saw her reluctant expression.
"Tell Sister Wang to make some more delicious food; you've lost weight," he reminded her before hanging up.
After Li Hao left for the first week, Wang Mei came to Yu Rao. When Lin Xiao went to see Tian Tian, she left Wang Mei in Beijing.
In the second week, Lin Xiao had the finance personnel ready; one was Zhou Qing, a woman in her forties transferred from Gulou District, and the other was Hu Bo, a recent university graduate.
Meng Kai brought both of them to meet Lin Xiao.
"Zhou Accountant, Hu Bo, welcome to our Cui Ping Management Committee," Lin Xiao greeted them politely.
"Thank you, Town Head," Zhou Accountant replied, wearing black-framed glasses and appearing somewhat reserved.
A week ago, Lin Xiao attended a meeting in the city and heard that Xu had transferred from the National Development and Reform Commission to the Finance Bureau. That evening, Lin Xiao arranged to have dinner with Xu and a few classmates who were also selected for transfers.
During dinner, they discussed their work, and Lin Xiao casually mentioned that the Management Committee was short on accounting personnel. Xu remarked that their district's Finance Bureau had a lot of auditing tasks, making accounting indispensable. He also mentioned that Zhou Accountant, who was always at Yu Rao Middle School, had been living apart from her spouse.
That day, when Wang Dawei brought up the issue of auditing, Lin Xiao thought of Zhou Qing. Zhou Qing was the head of the Audit Division at the Gulou District Finance Bureau. Lin Xiao wanted her to continue as the head of the finance department at Yuping Management Committee. Although it was a transfer, it would resolve her long-distance living situation.
For Lin Xiao, it was crucial to find someone professional and without potential risks, and Zhou Qing was the perfect fit. When Lin Xiao approached Luo Qianwei, she aimed to ask him to facilitate the inter-regional transfer and also requested Hu Bo.
Luo Qianwei had been promoted by Li Hao and was always accommodating to Lin Xiao as long as she did not violate any principles. The preliminary accounts were managed by Gengwei Town, and recently they had been working at the Gengwei Town Finance Office. Lin Xiao wanted to ensure a smooth handover of the preliminary accounts and asked them to review the financial transactions of Gengwei Town since the township's financial staff could not match their expertise.
Lin Xiao briefly outlined their work direction. The Management Committee was a newly established institution, and as its founding members, they needed to create rules and regulations, which would be their responsibility. She also discussed the situation of the Management Committee with both individuals and painted a broad vision for their future work.
