Lin Rumei was also quite worried. Jiang Chen was exceptionally skilled and unafraid of provocations, but Lin Rumei was not in the same position. If things continued this way, she would eventually be assassinated.
Jiang Chen and Ding Yan returned to the Golden Coast Resort Hotel. The earlier incident had already slipped Jiang Chen's mind; those underground bosses from Hong Kong Island were insignificant, and he wouldn’t waste his thoughts on them.
Ding Yan followed Jiang Chen in silence. To be honest, he was still shaken by what he had witnessed. It was his first time seeing Jiang Chen kill someone. Although Jiang Chen was not an ordinary person, the decisiveness with which he took a life left even a seasoned assassin like Ding Yan feeling uneasy.
To Jiang Chen, human life seemed as trivial as grass, and his methods of killing astonished Ding Yan. Water could kill, fire could kill; it was truly remarkable.
Upon returning to the Golden Coast Resort Hotel, Zhou Xuemei and Lin Jingzhu had already come back. Jiang Chen had dinner with them, and then Zhou Xuemei mentioned that her classmates wanted to visit the Mountain Peak room. Naturally, Jiang Chen did not refuse.
In the Mountain Peak room, Lin Jingzhu's classmates were excitedly taking photos and enjoying the scenery. As for Mark, he felt too embarrassed to face Jiang Chen and claimed he was unwell, opting to rest in his own room.
“Jiang Chen, we’ll be heading back tomorrow afternoon,” Lin Jingzhu said as she approached him.
“I’ll be staying a few more days,” Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
“When can we see each other again?” Lin Jingzhu asked softly.
“We will meet again,” Jiang Chen said gently.
Lin Jingzhu looked at him and smiled brightly, nodding vigorously.
While Jiang Chen and Lin Jingzhu were chatting, Zhou Xuemei suddenly rushed over and bluntly asked, “Jiang Chen, I want to ask you something—do you like Jingzhu or not?”
“Zhou Xuemei, what are you saying? Come on, let’s go,” Lin Jingzhu said anxiously, pulling Zhou Xuemei away.
However, Zhou Xuemei resisted leaving, waiting for Jiang Chen’s answer.
Lin Jingzhu also wanted to know the answer but understood that Jiang Chen couldn’t give her one at that moment.
“This is a matter between me and Jingzhu; you don’t need to ask about it,” Jiang Chen said with a slight smile.
“Jingzhu likes you; don’t let her down,” Zhou Xuemei insisted.
“Don’t worry about it. Jingzhu, it’s getting late; you should take your classmates back to rest,” Jiang Chen said. Zhou Xuemei was indeed difficult to deal with, so he had no choice but to dismiss her.
After Lin Jingzhu and the others left, the room finally fell quiet.
A night passed without incident. The next morning, Lin Rumei came to see Jiang Chen.
“How did it go?” Jiang Chen asked.
“Mr. Jiang, those people are quite obstinate. Although you intimidated them yesterday, getting them to obey will still be very difficult,” Lin Rumei replied honestly. This matter was indeed challenging; people would die for wealth just as birds would perish for food—a truth that had remained unchanged throughout history. If Jiang Chen cut off their financial resources, even threats of death might not be enough to control them.
"Take your time. Even wild beasts can be tamed. Those who are disobedient, no matter how unruly, can they really compare to wild beasts?" Jiang Chen said.
"I'm afraid that if we push them too hard, they might lash out recklessly," Lin Rumei said with concern.
"You're just worried about becoming the target of everyone's ire, aren't you? Don't worry. Later, find me a good piece of jade or a magical artifact; I can help you make a protective talisman. With that talisman, no one can harm you—not even bullets or explosives will touch you," Jiang Chen reassured her.
"Then thank you very much, Mr. Jiang," Lin Rumei exclaimed joyfully. With her safety assured, she felt a weight lifted off her shoulders.
