"Shang Haoran, make sure to listen to the teacher today," I reminded him.
"Don't drink, don't smoke, just be a good kid," I added.
"If you encounter any difficulties, feel free to reach out to me. I'll help you with extra lessons."
"And also..."
"Yan Chengcheng."
Shang Haoran stopped in his tracks and turned to look at me. "You're quite chatty."
"Oh come on, I'm getting old," I replied with an embarrassed laugh. "I tend to ramble a bit."
"Shang Haoran, hurry up and go inside," I urged, adjusting my collar and tugging at the buttons on my chest. "Make sure to pay attention in class."
"Okay," he nodded, a smile creeping onto his lips that he couldn't suppress.
Damn Yan Chengcheng.
Our interactions had become more frequent; from initially feeling resistant to now being accustomed to my presence. In fact, I found myself secretly looking forward to seeing him.
" Teacher Xiao Yan, see you this afternoon," he said, the first time he showed me his most genuine smile.
"See you this afternoon," I replied with a grin and waved goodbye.
I took him to the tutoring center and decided to sit in on the classes for the entire day, claiming I wanted to assess the teacher's teaching skills.
During lunch, a few male classmates gathered around and asked me several questions. I patiently answered them.
Suddenly, I noticed that my lunch box had gone untouched.
"Shang Haoran, why haven't you eaten?"
"I don't like Bitter Melon."
I looked up at her. "Change it."
"Huh?"
She paused for a moment, then burst into laughter. "You don't like Bitter Melon?"
"Yeah."
I nodded. "I also don't like drinking milk, I don't like eating bananas, I don't like..."
"Stop!"
She made a stopping gesture. "Don't say you don't like it anymore."
"Here you go."
She picked up the Bitter Melon and handed it to me. "I don't like eating Bitter Melon, so it's fine if you do."
In an instant, the entire dining table fell silent.
A few male classmates around us stared in disbelief at the scene.
"What... what are they doing?"
"How could Senior Huan Huan give Bitter Melon to Brother Cheng Ze?"
"My goodness, did I see that wrong?"
"Um..."
During the break in math class, as I went to the restroom and returned, I overheard a boy blushingly ask Yan Chengcheng, "Senior, is this your boyfriend?"
"No."
Yan Chengcheng smiled. "He's my... younger brother."
"Oh."
The boy visibly relaxed. "Senior, how about I treat you to dinner tonight?"
"Sure."
Yan Chengcheng nodded. "Bring Cheng Ze along; let's have a get-together."
"Okay."
The boy smiled, "I'll definitely call Cheng Ze."
"Mm."
Yan Chengcheng nodded.
I quietly returned to my seat, watching Yan Chengcheng still chatting with the boy, feeling inexplicably annoyed.
"Not my boyfriend, but you have to go back with me tonight."
I said coldly, "I'll message you later."
"Sure."
Yan Chengcheng smiled, "Then we can study together. Once you get into a top university, we’ll throw a celebration party."
The surroundings fell silent.
No one responded to her.
The boy who had just brought her milk tea looked particularly dejected.
Hmph.
Yan Chengcheng, you’re quite popular.
The math teacher walked in, and surprisingly, it was someone familiar.
"Hello everyone, I am your substitute teacher, Qin Fei."
"My name is Qin Fei."
The man was refined and handsome, leaving a lasting impression.
"It’s actually Senior Qin Fei!"
Yan Chengcheng exclaimed, "So handsome."
Yan Chengcheng had encountered Qin Fei at the tutoring center.
Qin Fei was Yan Chengcheng's senior from college and also the substitute math teacher for this session.
He recognized Yan Chengcheng at a glance but chose not to make it known.
