At the entrance of the hospital room, the three little girls were unaware that Ke Hong and Zhao Changsheng had reconciled. They hadn’t seen Zhao Changsheng around lately and assumed that Ke Hong was still upset. For the past few days, they had been by her side, offering comfort and support.
“Auntie, what’s going on?” the three girls asked in unison.
“Why are you all staring at me like that? Couples quarrel and make up; you’ll be the same sooner or later,” Ke Hong replied.
What seemed like an ordinary remark made the three girls blush in unison, their minds racing with thoughts.
“What does Auntie mean by that? Is she hinting at something? Could she be talking about my future with Zhao Lun?”
Clearly, this was not what Ke Hong intended to convey. “You three stay here and keep an eye on things for me; I need to make a phone call,” she said, turning away without looking back.
She wasn’t just making a simple phone call. Knowing Zhao Changsheng was outside and Ke Hong was inside, it reflected their long-standing habits. Ke Hong had her own connections after being by Zhao Changsheng’s side for so many years. What she needed to do was leverage her network to stir up trouble for those who had caused them distress.
Meanwhile, Ouyang Zhirou, Lin Mu Xi, and Wang Ju'en remained behind, and as soon as Ke Hong left, they began their own subtle rivalry.
“Wow, why are your faces so red? Did Auntie’s comment make you both all flustered?” Wang Ju'en teased.
Unlike the other two, Wang Ju'en didn’t beat around the bush. Having spent time abroad, her straightforwardness had been influenced by her experiences there; she spoke her mind freely.
“Oh yes, I am flustered! Zhao Lun is my fiancé—what’s wrong with having feelings for my fiancé? It’s perfectly reasonable!”
If Ouyang Zhirou had heard such words from herself in the past, she would have been shocked. It would have seemed absurd to say something like that before. Yet now, she could say it without a hint of embarrassment.
Lin Mu Xi wasn’t about to back down either. “Fiancé or not, you’re still unmarried! As long as you’re not married, it doesn’t belong to anyone!”
This wasn’t just some object or trivial matter; it was about one’s entire life. She had to take action.
“Haha, you two are really something!” Wang Ju'en laughed.
“What’s it to you? You have nothing to do with this! We’re fine just the way we are; you should go cool off somewhere else!”
Faced with Wang Ju'en's sudden interruption, their priority was to reach a truce and unite against her.
“Why? I have a betrothal with Zhao Lun’s brother too!”
At this revelation, they finally realized that Wang Ju'en also had a betrothal with Zhao Lun!
“Damn Zhao Lun! How many girls does he have betrothals with?”
Unbeknownst to them about the commotion at the entrance of the hospital room, Ke Hong suddenly sneezed twice. “Achoo! Who’s talking about me?”
"What does it matter if you're engaged? Zhao Lun won't like you anyway. You should just annul the engagement," Ouyang Zhirou said, her sense of tension and crisis reaching a peak.
While she had always had a rivalry with Lin Mu Xi, she felt confident that she could outshine her. However, when it came to dealing with Wang Ju'en, who carried two major burdens, she felt utterly lacking in confidence. Moreover, Wang Ju'en's open personality would undoubtedly make things far more challenging than dealing with Lin Mu Xi.
