"Why not?" Hu Zhi and Hu Yao agreed, and Lin Mu Xi had no objections.
By the way, Xiao Lin, make sure to bring your parents along later. It’s always a pleasure to drink with your dad; he can't be left out!
"Okay, Uncle Ouyang."
"Hey, are you guys having a secret gathering without me? That seems a bit unfair!" A voice called out before a figure gradually came into view. In this sweltering weather, the girl was dressed in a way that made her outfit seem like it was made from scraps of fabric, her silhouette becoming clearer as she approached.
"Wang Ju'en? What are you doing here?"
"Why can't I come? Zhao Lun is out of the hospital, so of course I have to show up."
As she got closer, I couldn't help but be confused by her outfit. Was she really wearing her underwear as outerwear? The bottom half consisted of tight, ultra-short shorts that were even shorter than my own.
In the next moment, two hands covered my eyes. "Hey! What are you doing?"
"What do you think? If you look one more time, I'll gouge your eyes out!"
"If you dare to look again, believe me, I'll make sure you spend more time in the hospital!"
After Zhao Changsheng said this, he turned around and prepared to leave. "You guys go ahead; I have some things to take care of."
I immediately responded, "Old Zhao, wait! I want to go too!" I wriggled free from their grasp and dashed towards Zhao Changsheng.
"What are you doing? Do you know what I'm planning?"
"I know exactly what you're up to; that's why I'm following you." Upon hearing this, Zhao Changsheng looked at me and understood my intent. "Alright then, come along."
"Zhao Uncle, I want to go too!"
"I want to join as well!" Wang Ju'en looked at the two of us trailing behind her and decided she wanted to tag along too.
Zhao Changsheng kicked me lightly on the backside and said, "If you don’t deal with those three girls, don’t think about coming with us."
I turned around and looked at them seriously. "You girls should stay back; I have something important to handle."
Ouyang Zhirou wanted to say something but was stopped by Lin Mu Xi shaking her head. Wang Ju'en simply said she'd see us in the evening before leaving; she always had a knack for disappearing without a trace.
So I got into Zhao Changsheng's car. Inside, I didn’t say a word; my expression was dark and foreboding. Zhao Changsheng didn’t say much either; what needed to happen would happen eventually. Facing it sooner might be better.
Before long, Old Zhao's car brought me to an abandoned factory in West City District after winding around for quite some time before arriving at our destination.
After entering this place with Old Zhao, his face was no longer the playful mask it used to wear; instead, it was replaced by a stern expression that seemed to say, "I know what you want to do, but now you have to listen to me. Change your shoes, change your clothes, and put on gloves."
I silently complied, changing into the required attire and following him closely. As we moved deeper into the desolate area, I noticed that Old Zhao's subordinates were scattered around, each one looking fierce and menacing.
We soon arrived at a Small Black Room. The moment the door swung open, a strong smell of blood assaulted my senses. Even though I had mentally prepared myself for this, I still felt a wave of nausea wash over me.
"Hold it together! If you can't, just get out!" Old Zhao didn't even glance my way but immediately sensed something was off with me. At that moment, he seemed like a completely different person; I could hardly recognize whether this man before me was truly my father. I forced myself to suppress the urge to vomit, straightened my back, and stepped inside.
