The sunlight poured over him, accentuating the contours of his profile.
I struggled to erase the memory of when I had delivered the lounge chair from my mind.
Yet during dinner, I couldn't help but steal glances at him.
Fu Xi ate slowly, his demeanor elegant and composed.
He lifted his gaze slightly and asked me, "What's wrong?"
"N-nothing," I stammered.
I quickly forced a smile. "Are you satisfied with the meal?"
Fu Xi nodded.
Seizing the moment, I added, "It's all thanks to Xu Yujun."
"She mentioned that you really enjoy the dishes I prepare."
"If you like them, maybe you could consider giving the sisters a raise?"
Fu Xi raised an eyebrow at me. "You want a raise?"
"Ah, no, that's not it."
I hurriedly waved my hands in explanation. "What I meant was, Xu Yujun really wants a raise."
Fu Xi set down his chopsticks and regarded me thoughtfully.
"You've worked hard during this time."
"I think it's time for you to get a raise," he said.
I was startled and quickly refused. "No, no, no! That's not what I meant."
"I already have a job."
Fu Xi nodded slightly. "Hmm."
The next day, I was surprised to find that the boss had become one of our company's major clients.
The leadership even personally welcomed him.
I hid in a corner, secretly observing Fu Xi.
He exuded a more reserved aura while working.
Dressed in a tailored suit, the gold-rimmed glasses on his nose added a touch of charming sophistication.
Ugh! What am I thinking!
I shook my head, forcing myself to focus on work.
Yet my gaze kept drifting back to Fu Xi.
He lounged casually in his office chair, exuding a lazy charm.
His peach blossom eyes behind the glasses seemed to smile mischievously, like walking hormones.
If he hadn't spoken up, I might have forgotten he was here for business.
"I heard your company is working on a new renovation plan?"
"Yes, yes, yes."
The leader quickly smiled in an attempt to please him.
"What products is President Fu interested in?"
Fu Xi gently pushed his glasses up with his long fingers and pointed at me.
"I would like to know more about the Hug Chair and its accompanying products."
I immediately snapped back to reality and pulled out my tablet to show him.
My fingers swiftly glided across the screen:
"This Hug Sofa and Hug Table are both part of the Hug Chair collection."
"The Hug Series is our company's flagship product line."
"Look at this Hug Sofa; couples can lie on it to watch movies and even fall asleep directly."
"If we add a mattress underneath, it can transform into a spacious two-meter bed at night."
Fu Xi stared thoughtfully at the tablet screen.
I anxiously watched his reaction.
It wasn't until he looked up and asked with a smile:
"Did you design all of these?"
I nodded, "Yes."
Fu Xi gazed into my eyes, "You have great talent."
"Our company is also working on a new renovation plan and wants to incorporate the Hug Series."
"I wonder if you would be interested in collaborating with us?"
I was taken aback.
It wasn't until Fu Xi repeated himself that I regained my composure.
"The Hug Series can be integrated into your company's new renovation plan."
"You will be in charge of this project and follow up with me," he said.
I widened my eyes in disbelief. "Really?"
Fu Xi looked at me, his gaze deep. "Yes."
Does this mean I will receive a substantial Project Bonus?!
Fu Xi and I successfully signed the cooperation contract.
I stared at the contract in my hands, hardly able to believe my eyes.
"Thank you, President Fu," I said repeatedly.
Fu Xi merely smiled. "No problem, come by often."
Holding the contract, I returned to the company, feeling satisfied.
I thought my colleagues would congratulate me.
But to my surprise, they all avoided me as if I were contagious.
Even my closest colleagues spoke to me coldly.
