Jiang Chen stood to the side, shaking his head slightly. With in-laws like these, the bride's family was in for a tough time.
The Bride's Father dared not say much, but Han Baiying's face darkened to an extreme; today was supposed to be a joyous occasion, yet someone was causing trouble.
"Mom, which brat dares to make a scene here? He needs to be taught a lesson," Liu Toukang, Liu Jiyue's older brother, fumed as he followed his mother to confront Jiang Chen.
The crowd parted, isolating Jiang Chen and his companions. However, when Liu Toukang caught sight of Jiang Chen, he suddenly halted in his tracks.
"Uh, is it him?" Liu Toukang murmured, looking visibly shaken.
"Brother, what's wrong?" Liu Jiyue asked anxiously.
Liu Toukang's mind went blank; he never expected Jiang Chen to appear so suddenly and wasn't prepared for it. Last year in the Golden Triangle, he had witnessed Jiang Chen's prowess and knew he was not someone to be trifled with. Jiang Chen had warned everyone not to get involved with the Golden Triangle again; otherwise, he would come to collect his dues.
Now, the Liu Family and the Guo Family had taken advantage of the Lin family's withdrawal to continue their dealings with the Golden Triangle and made a fortune. They promoted a so-called Divine Medicine that supposedly strengthened the body and boosted energy. In reality, it was a new type of minor drug that made people feel invigorated and addictive.
As for strengthening health, that was merely an initial illusion for those taking the medicine; over time, their bodies would only deteriorate further. Fortunately, it hadn't been long enough for anyone to notice, allowing the Liu Family to rake in substantial profits—up to one hundred billion.
If Jiang Chen were to find out about this, his threats of coming to collect would likely not involve actual bloodshed but rather a monetary demand. It would be best if he remained unaware; otherwise, they might have to part with a significant sum of money. After all, how much he demanded was entirely up to him; failing to meet his expectations could mean dire consequences. Jiang Chen had already killed Kunshan from the Golden Triangle without hesitation; dealing with others would be even easier.
However, Liu Toukang believed they had been discreet enough in maintaining their ties with the Golden Triangle that Jiang Chen wouldn't know anything about it.
"Liu Shao, you seem to recognize me?" Jiang Chen smiled.
"Uh, Jiang... Mr. Jiang, how could I not recognize you? Last year in the Golden Triangle, you wiped out Kunshan Group; who wouldn't know you? It’s an honor for me that you are here at the Liu Family today," Liu Toukang quickly replied, his tone extremely polite.
"Since Liu Shao knows me well enough, do you know why I am here?" Jiang Chen asked again.
"Today is my brother's big day, Mr. Jiang; you must be here to congratulate us," Liu Toukang said nervously, fearing that Jiang Chen might say he came to collect from the Liu Family.
"That's true; however, I have matters to attend to tomorrow," Jiang Chen replied casually.
Upon hearing that Jiang Chen had business tomorrow, Liu Toukang felt uneasy but had no choice but to say, "Then I look forward to your visit tomorrow, Mr. Jiang!"
Seeing Liu Toukang treat Jiang Chen with such respect left everyone else stunned.
"Brother, what is going on? Who is this guy?" Liu Jiyue struggled to comprehend.
"You must show respect to Mr. Jiang. You all go about your business; I'll personally attend to Mr. Jiang," Liu Toukang said sternly.
Han Baiying wasn't foolish; she had come ready to confront someone out of anger but realized there was more at play when she saw her eldest son behaving this way. She understood her son well enough—if he treated this young man named Jiang Chen with such deference, then he must be someone extraordinary.
