Accustomed to city life, Zhao Wenya felt utterly uncomfortable here. Despite the air conditioning constantly blowing cold air, she still couldn't sleep. 0

Images of that finger flashed through her mind, morphing into a wriggling worm crawling into her ear one moment, and then transforming into a sharp needle aimed directly at her eyes the next. 0

"Yuan Kui, I'm scared," Zhao Wenya said as she turned to press against Liu Yuan Kui's body. 0

"What are you scared of?" Liu Yuan Kui asked. 0

"That finger in the bottle..." Zhao Wenya glanced anxiously at the drawer against the wall, where the glass jar containing Yan Zi's finger was kept. 0

"What else are you afraid of? Have you done something wrong to Yan Zi?" Liu Yuan Kui replied irritably. 0

"What are you talking about?" 0

Liu Yuan Kui lay with his back to her, and Zhao Wenya nudged him. "Do you think Yan Zi might still be alive?" 0

"Impossible. I saw Yan Zi get hit by a wire with my own eyes," Liu Yuan Kui said. 0

"Huh? Where's Dong Dong?" Zhao Wenya sat up in bed and turned on the light, revealing only the two of them in the room. 0

Liu Yuan Kui sat up and said, "I'll go look for him." 0

"I'll come with you," Zhao Wenya insisted. 0

As they stepped out of their room on the second floor, they heard a woman's scream from the courtyard below, followed by a beam of light rolling on the ground before suddenly extinguishing. 0

When they rushed over, Elder Sister was slumped on the ground, her eyes filled with terror. 0

"What's wrong, Sister-in-law?" Zhao Wenya asked. 0

Elder Sister pointed to a section of the staircase against the wall, which was the same height as the second floor. 0

The Liu family's house was originally two stories, with the third floor added later, so this section of stairs had been unused for a long time. 0

Liu Yuan Kui picked up the flashlight, gave it a couple of taps, and the light flickered back on. He shone it in the direction Elder Sister indicated and saw Dong Dong sitting on the stairs, looking down at a few people below. 0

There were no other people around. 0

At that moment, Elder Brother also walked out of the bedroom. 0

"Dong Dong, come down! What are you doing up there?" Liu Yuan Kui said, somewhat irritated. 0

This time, Dong Dong obediently began to walk down the stairs while saying, "Sister came back to get her finger. We were just chatting here." 0

Zhao Wenya looked at her husband and said, "Do you think our son might be having some kind of mental issue?" 0

"Dong Dong isn't making things up. I saw Yan Zi! She was just sitting next to Dong Dong, hugging him, but in the blink of an eye, she disappeared!" Elder Sister grabbed Zhao Wenya's wrist tightly. 0

A breeze picked up in the yard, sending chills down everyone's spines. 0

Liu Yuan Kui quickly ran back to the room and soon returned. He squatted down and placed his hands on Dong Dong's shoulders. "Son, where's that glass bottle?" 0

The bottle was no longer in the drawer. 0

"I told you, my sister took it just now," Dong Dong replied. "She said her finger hurts." 0

"What else did your sister say?" Liu Yuan Kui asked again. 0

"My sister said she would come back, and she said more people would die." 0

This felt like a terrifying thunderclap, echoing in the hearts of Liu Yuan Kui and Zhao Wenya. 0

"Tell Dad, how did you know you were going to meet your sister tonight?" 0

"We planned it. When my sister gave me the bottle that day, she said we would meet again a week later in the evening." 0

Liu Yuan Kui calculated in his mind; it was exactly one week since that day. 0

"Did you agree on a time for your next meeting?" Liu Yuan Kui's voice trembled slightly. 0

"We agreed on a week later." 0

Adults usually don't take what children say too seriously. 0

That's how Liu Yuan Kui and his wife were. 0
