In the bar, Liang Tian and Xiao Zhan were enjoying a lively conversation. After a few drinks, the distance between them grew closer. Xiao Zhan, with his open and carefree nature, felt grateful for Liang Tian's help in the bar and was also quite curious about the calm and mysterious aura that surrounded him.
Xiao Zhan patted Liang Tian on the shoulder and said loudly, "Brother Liang, I've been around Jiangnan City and the Underworld for a few years now, and I've seen all kinds of people. But someone as capable and righteous as you is truly rare. If it weren't for your intervention today, I would have had quite a bit of trouble dealing with those small-time thugs."
Liang Tian smiled and waved his hand, saying, "Brother Xiao is too kind. Helping out when one sees injustice is only natural. Besides, I see that your skills are quite impressive as well; those thugs are no match for you."
Xiao Zhan laughed heartily, a hint of bravado in his eyes. "Brother Liang, you're too modest! However, since we’ve met through this little scuffle, I value loyalty above all in friendships. If you don’t mind, let’s become sworn brothers today!"
Liang Tian felt a stir in his heart. Being alone in this mortal realm, meeting someone as generous and loyal as Xiao Zhan was indeed a stroke of luck. He nodded and replied, "If Brother Xiao holds me in such high regard, I would be honored."
Xiao Zhan was overjoyed and immediately pulled Liang Tian out of the bar. They found a small shop on the street where they bought some incense and liquor. The two then went to an open area where they set up the incense and knelt down to pay their respects. Xiao Zhan proclaimed, "Today I, Xiao Zhan, become brothers with Liang Tian. We do not seek to be born on the same day of the same month of the same year, but we do wish to die on the same day of the same month of the same year. From now on, we will share blessings and bear hardships together. If either of us breaks this vow, may heaven strike us down!" Liang Tian solemnly echoed, "I, Liang Tian, am willing to become brothers with Brother Xiao and will uphold this vow without betrayal!"
After their oath was completed, they stood up and laughed heartily at each other. Xiao Zhan threw an arm around Liang Tian's shoulder and said, "Good brother! From today onward, you are my true brother. In Jiangnan City, if anyone dares to bully you, just call my name—Xiao Zhan—and I will make sure they regret it!"
A warm feeling surged within Liang Tian as he replied, "Brother Xiao, I won’t let you down either. If you ever need my help in the future, just let me know."
They returned to the bar to continue drinking and chatting. Xiao Zhan shared various amusing stories about Jiangnan City’s Underworld and its power struggles while Liang Tian listened quietly, gaining a deeper understanding of this world. Occasionally he shared some experiences from his school life but refrained from mentioning anything about the celestial realm.
Before they knew it, night had fallen deep. Although both were slightly intoxicated, their spirits remained high. Xiao Zhan said, "Brother, if you have any plans in the future, feel free to tell your big brother. I still have some connections in Jiangnan City."
Liang Tian pondered for a moment before responding, "Brother Xiao, for now I want to focus on improving my abilities; as for what comes next, I'll take it one step at a time." Xiao Zhan nodded in understanding and said, "That’s fine! With your skills as my brother, you’re bound to achieve great things in the future. If you encounter any troubles, don’t bear them alone; I won’t just stand by."
The two chatted for a long while before bidding each other farewell. Upon returning to his rented room, Liang Tian looked at Wang Er still unconscious and reflected on his meeting with Xiao Zhan that day. He felt that his life in this mortal realm was starting to take a positive turn. Becoming brothers with Xiao Zhan also gave him a sense of genuine friendship—a bond that might serve as crucial support in navigating this unfamiliar world.
