After receiving the approval of Xuanfeng Zhenren and obtaining the Lingxiao Sword, Liang Tian became increasingly diligent in his cultivation. He devoted himself day and night to studying the harmony between treasures and his own martial arts, steadily improving his strength. Time flew by, and months passed in the blink of an eye. Seeing that Liang Tian had reached a certain stage in his training, Xuanfeng Zhenren decided it was time for him to descend the mountain for training and gain more experience.
One day, Xuanfeng Zhenren summoned Liang Tian to his side and said solemnly, “Liang Tian, you have been cultivating in the temple for some time now, and your strength and mindset have made significant progress. However, the path of cultivation requires not only dedication within the temple but also experiences in the world outside to truly grasp its essence. I have decided to let you descend the mountain for training. Are you willing?”
Liang Tian's heart leaped with joy; he had longed for an opportunity to apply what he had learned in practice, broaden his horizons, and enhance his abilities. Without hesitation, he bowed deeply and replied, “Master, I am willing! Thank you for this opportunity.”
Xuanfeng Zhenren nodded slightly and cautioned him, “Once you descend the mountain, you will face many temptations and challenges. Do not forget the responsibilities of a cultivator; uphold justice and maintain compassion. When faced with danger, do not be reckless; learn to adapt to changing circumstances.”
“I will remember your teachings, Master!” Liang Tian said with determination, committing Xuanfeng Zhenren's words to memory.
After bidding farewell to Xuanfeng Zhenren and his fellow disciples at Qingfeng Temple, Liang Tian packed his belongings and set off down the mountain with the Lingxiao Sword in hand. He traveled swiftly and soon returned to the familiar Jiangnan City.
Stepping into Jiangnan City, Liang Tian was filled with emotions. This city had witnessed his rise from a destitute youth to who he was now; it held his friends, loved ones, and memories of past struggles.
Liang Tian decided to visit Xiao Zhan first. When he arrived at Xiao Zhan's territory, one of Xiao Zhan's subordinates recognized him immediately and hurriedly ushered him inside. Xiao Zhan was busy with matters at hand but was overjoyed upon hearing of Liang Tian's arrival. He quickly set aside his work and came out to greet him.
“Brother! You’re finally back!” Xiao Zhan exclaimed as he opened his arms wide for a tight embrace.
“Brother Xiao, I’m back,” Liang Tian replied with a sincere smile on his face.
After exchanging pleasantries, Xiao Zhan eagerly inquired about Liang Tian’s training at Qingfeng Temple. Liang Tian recounted his experiences in detail, including how he obtained the Lingxiao Sword. Xiao Zhan listened intently, feeling both happy for Liang Tian’s growth and a sense of admiration.
“Brother, your strength has greatly increased; this is wonderful news. Although Jiangnan City appears calm on the surface, there are undercurrents stirring beneath it. Trouble may arise at any moment. With you here, I feel much more at ease,” Xiao Zhan remarked thoughtfully.
Liang Tian nodded and said, “Brother Xiao, don’t worry. Now that I’m back, I won’t let those with ulterior motives run rampant anymore.”
Then, Liang Tian thought of Chen Xue, filled with longing. Xiao Zhan noticed his thoughts and teased him with a smile, “Alright, stop holding back here. Go see that girl Chen Xue. If she knows you’re back, she’ll be overjoyed.”
Liang Tian smiled shyly, bid farewell to Xiao Zhan, and headed towards the Chen Family. Upon arriving at the Chen Family Mansion, Liang Tian took a deep breath, adjusted his clothes, and approached to announce his arrival. The servants of the Chen Family saw Liang Tian and did not dare to be negligent; they hurried inside to report.
Before long, Chen Xue rushed over. The moment she saw Liang Tian, her eyes sparkled with surprise and tears of joy.
“Liang Tian, you’re finally back!” Chen Xue quickly walked up to Liang Tian, tightly grasping his hand as if afraid he might disappear again.
“Chen Xue, I’m back. Sorry to have kept you waiting,” Liang Tian gazed at Chen Xue with deep affection in his eyes.
The two embraced for a long time, as if time had stopped for them. Afterwards, Liang Tian and Chen Xue strolled through the garden of the Chen Family, sharing stories of their time apart. Liang Tian understood that this journey of descending the mountain for training was not only a test of his own cultivation but also a responsibility to protect this city and safeguard Chen Xue. He was fully prepared to face the challenges that lay ahead.
