In the evening, Lin Wufeng returned home after a long day at work. Inside the house, Teacher Zhuang, Huang Ling, and Song Ying were already waiting for him. They sat together, their expressions serious yet filled with anticipation, discussing the possibility of Lin Xiao Yu being invited to perform for the military. 0

Teacher Zhuang was the first to break the silence. Adjusting his glasses, he spoke with conviction, "I believe this opportunity is worthwhile. The child can gain recognition from it. A military camp is a solemn and passionate place that isn't easily accessible. Moreover, after a month of intensive training with professional instructors, she will undoubtedly acquire a valuable skill that will benefit her future development." 0

Lin Wufeng nodded in agreement, adding, "Indeed, such an experience is rare. It will broaden her horizons; she won't just learn dance but also the resilience of soldiers. It will help her grow significantly." However, he furrowed his brow with concern. "But the child has never been away from home for so long. I worry she won't be able to take care of herself and might feel distressed." 0

Song Ying bit her lip anxiously, her face filled with worry as she said, "Yes, our Lin Xiao Yu has always been clingy and has never left home. She's so quiet; what if she can't adapt? What if she doesn't eat or sleep well?" 0

Huang Ling looked at everyone and gently suggested, "Let's not speculate among ourselves. We should ask Lin Xiao Yu what she thinks and respect her choice." Everyone nodded in agreement, and the room fell into deep thought as they considered how to approach Lin Xiao Yu about this matter. 0

Song Ying pulled Suzhou over to sit on the sofa and seriously explained the invitation to perform for the military and the summer training program. Suzhou was initially taken aback; a flicker of hesitation crossed her eyes as she nervously tugged at her shirt and murmured, "I have to leave home for a month?" 0

The adults engaged in a patient discussion about the pros and cons: she would have the chance to refine her dance skills under excellent teachers, experience life in a military camp, and gain valuable insights for her resume; however, she would also have to face life alone, cope with homesickness, and adapt to an unfamiliar environment. 0

Suzhou bit her lip tightly, pondering deeply for a long time. In her mind, images of dazzling stages and the mystery of military life flashed before her eyes. The burning passion for dance in her heart gradually overshadowed her unease about leaving home. She relaxed her clenched fists, lifted her head with determination, and softly yet firmly said, "I want to go." Though her words were light, they felt like a stone thrown into a calm lake, creating ripples of joy among the adults present who exchanged smiles filled with pride and expectation. 0

Filled with happiness, Song Ying contacted Teacher Shaogong to inform him of Lin Xiao Yu's decision to participate in the training. The teacher responded enthusiastically over the phone, confirming that everyone should gather at Shaogong on July 1st to begin their intensive training journey. 0

Meanwhile, Teacher Zhuang had received an assignment to grade college entrance exam papers and hurriedly packed his materials. Before leaving, he patted Zhuang Tunan's shoulder and earnestly reminded him to help his mother out since there were many chores at home. He then strode out the door. 0

Just as he was about to leave, Lin Dongzhe exclaimed enviously, "Teacher Zhuang is so lucky! He gets to avoid eating Snake Gourd every day! I'm so sick of it!" Indeed, Snake Gourd had been frequently served lately, much to everyone's dismay. Huang Ling had intended to share some fresh Snake Gourd with their neighbors out of goodwill; however, upon sensing her intentions, they all waved their hands in refusal with wry smiles, lamenting that they had grown tired of it. 0

That night, under the moonlight like flowing water, Xiao Ting sleepily stumbled outside to use the restroom. As she stepped into the yard, a shadow darted between the vines laden with Snake Gourd. Startled, she shivered and almost cried out. Upon closer inspection, she realized it was Lin Dongzhe bouncing around like a monkey among the Snake Gourds, gleefully picking them. 0

Song Ying was drawn outside by the commotion and was furious upon seeing him. "Lin Dongzhe! What are you doing out here at this hour?" Lin Dongzhe looked innocent as he waved a Snake Gourd in his hand and mumbled back: "Mom, I'm just picking a few gourds." 0

The next day at school, Lin Dongzhe smugly pulled out his peculiar-looking Snake Gourds during recess to show off. His classmates were immediately taken aback and retreated in shock as chaos erupted in the classroom. The teacher rushed over upon hearing the commotion; seeing the scene before him turned his face green with anger as he glared at them. Xiao Ting quickly stood up to explain: "Teacher! Don't be scared; this is just Snake Gourd." Lin Xiao Yu chimed in to help calm everyone down. However, the teacher's anger did not subside as he dragged Lin Dongzhe off toward the office. 0

Lin Xiao Yu watched anxiously as Lin Dongzhe was taken away. In the office, the teacher scolded Song Ying when she arrived and demanded that Lin Dongzhe apologize to both him and his classmates for his behavior. Song Ying nodded repeatedly in agreement. Once that was settled and just as she was about to leave, the teacher called out again with a frown: "Lin Dongzhe's discipline is terrible! Just look at your daughter Suzhou—she's quiet and well-mannered! And you—you're too familiar with this office! You need to do better in educating your child!" Song Ying felt embarrassed as her face flushed red from shame. 0

When they got home, Song Ying poured out her grievances to Lin Wufeng about how humiliating it had been at school due to this incident involving Snake Gourd. 0

After all the chaos surrounding Snake Gourd and school troubles passed by, Lin Dongzhe became the target of family criticism. Song Ying was particularly furious and decided it was time for some serious discipline; she concocted a plan to make sure Snake Gourd appeared at every meal while focusing solely on him. 0

Lin Dongzhe was forced to eat Snake Gourd daily; at first he endured it but eventually found himself overwhelmed by its taste lingering in his mouth and stomach—it became unbearable torture. One day feeling famished and irritable, he dashed over to Xiao Ting's house where he spotted some eggs on the table. Without thinking twice he grabbed one and stuffed it into his mouth before swallowing it whole. 0

Huang Ling happened upon this scene by chance and gasped in shock while muttering: "This child acts like a starving wolf! It's as if he hasn't eaten in ages!" But Lin Dongzhe stubbornly retorted: "It's all Xiao Ting's fault! If she hadn't said it was Snake Gourd I wouldn't be like this!" This frightened Xiao Ting so much that tears sprang from her eyes as she began sobbing pitifully. 0

Lin Wufeng hurried over looking guilty; wanting to make amends with Xiao Ting he quickly went into the kitchen and soon emerged with two golden-brown fried eggs which he gently offered while soothingly speaking. Lin Xiao Yu also came over holding Xiao Ting's hand softly comforting her until eventually Xiao Ting's cries began to subside. 0
