This time, the fish was noticeably smaller than the last one, and reeling it in didn’t present much resistance. As the line was pulled back, a small silver fish with a hint of yellow fins, about the size of a palm, was lifted up.
Holding the fish in his hand, Shi Tian was about to remove the hook when Xiao Yu struggled and the dorsal spines on its fins suddenly jabbed into Shi Tian's finger.
With a yelp of pain, he instinctively flung the fish to the ground, momentarily forgetting about the small Xiao Yu as he clutched his injured finger, wishing he could tear the fish to pieces in his frustration.
What happened? Oh! Huang Diao! Ha ha! Quickly squeeze out the blood from that wound! Otherwise, it will hurt all day! Hearing Shi Tian's cry, Shi Ye rushed over, but upon seeing the Huang Diao fish on the ground, he couldn’t help but feel a bit schadenfreude.
While fishing, it’s possible to wear fishing gloves, but doing so can be somewhat inconvenient. Fishermen generally disdain wearing gloves; they are familiar with fish that have poisonous spines and know to be cautious when removing hooks or use a Control Fish Tool to handle them safely.
Most fishermen have experienced being pricked by fish spines; after feeling that pain once, they tend to be more careful without needing reminders.
As the saying goes, "Listen to advice and eat your fill." Since Shi Ye said this, Shi Tian could only obediently squat by and squeeze his finger. Once the blood was out, Air Force came over with a band-aid and couldn’t resist teasing him about how minor injuries shouldn’t keep him off duty!
After removing the fish and before he could cast again, a fisherman with a lot of gear approached.
“Bro, I saw in the group that someone caught a Sea Wolf weighing over thirty pounds here. Can I take a look?”
Without needing Shi Tian's permission, the Fishing Buddy had already spotted half of the Sea Wolf hanging out of the Fish Bucket. The fish was so large that it wouldn’t fit inside.
Group? Which group? Shi Tian thought to himself.
Air Force hadn’t sent him any photos yet, and he hadn’t posted anything in the newly created group either. Checking his phone confirmed there were no messages in that group, indicating that this fisherman had received information from another group.
Is it really appropriate to pull people from another group? It felt somewhat unethical! He needed to act quickly regarding sending Fish Hooks but still wanted to maintain some principles.
In a nearby Fishing Friends Group, someone had posted photos claiming that a big fish had been caught here—over a meter long—and they had come over by boat! The fisherman handed Shi Tian a cigarette while talking and showed him pictures on his phone.
“Yes, it’s this fish! It was caught just an hour ago. Do you want to take a picture with it?” After glancing at the fisherman’s phone, Shi Tian replied enthusiastically.
He couldn’t pull people into their group directly but could certainly have this fisherman bring them over! As long as people came by, he would give out Fish Hooks; even though he didn’t have many left today, he could still give out hooks to at least ten more people!
Shi Tian was enthusiastic, and the fisherman didn’t hold back either. He set down his Fishing Gear and lifted the fish using his Control Fish Tool.
Shi Tian took several pictures of the fisherman with his own phone and selected three decent ones. “Here, scan this code for the group; I’ll send you the photos!”
Just like that, another seasoned fisherman joined their group. Knowing that big fish were being caught here and being able to come over by boat from Great Eastern Sea certainly made him a valuable addition; having several fishermen like him in their group would greatly benefit its development!
Shi Tian had just seen the group that Fisherman showed him, which had over a hundred members, named the Fishing Fun Club. He anticipated that many more would arrive soon.
Such opportunities were rare. While Fisherman looked for a Fishing Spot, Shi Tian enthusiastically offered a set of hooks, eagerly waiting for the crowd to gather! He realized he hadn’t prepared enough hooks for the day; if he had known, he would have given each person a set, allowing him to share with even more people.
It was fine, though. When he returned home in the evening, he would inquire about the day’s events and make sure to carry more hooks with him. With two or three hundred people helping him earn points, it would be much better than struggling to draw Bai Tiao by himself!
Less than an hour later, more and more people gathered around, and Shi Tian began distributing hooks. By noon, he had finally given away all of his ten sets of Fish Hooks, and in return, he welcomed over ten new faces into the group.
Fishing on the reef was exhausting. The old man Ji Da had stood all morning and was feeling a bit worn out. After sorting through their catch, Air Force helped the reluctant old man into the car; their morning of fishing had finally come to an end!
Instead of returning to the villa, they went out for a meal. Air Force had already reserved a table there and called ahead to prepare everything before they set off.
As the old man animatedly recounted his battle with a big fish amidst laughter, mealtime always seemed too short. That morning, he had caught a large Mullet weighing over ten pounds. The old man spent twenty minutes reeling it in and complained that the fish's stamina was too poor; it flipped belly-up before he could fully enjoy the fight!
Returning to the villa, Shi Tian dropped off the old man and his companions before heading back to his own yard. It was time for a midday rest; they wouldn’t be going out again until at least three o’clock. With this time on his hands, Shi Tian needed to hurry and restock!
He had enough points to make Fish Hooks but found that materials were lacking. Making Fish Hooks required Lead Weights; although he could substitute other materials for Lead Weights, it would double both material consumption and points needed—making it better to just buy Lead Weights instead.
Points were precious to Shi Tian now; every little bit counted.
Diving into the underground garage, he drove his Mini Cooper back out. This time he only intended to buy Lead Weights—specifically the larger and cheaper ones.
The Fishing Gear Shop Owner had never encountered someone like Shi Tian who bought Lead Weights this way. He had seen customers purchase large quantities of Line Setup or Fish Hooks before but never anyone buying Lead Weights by weight.
Buying by weight was acceptable; these large Lead Weights cost thirty per pound. How many pounds did you want? Although he hadn’t seen anyone buy Lead Weights by weight before, when he went to restock, those Lead Weights were indeed sold by weight.
The lower-quality Lead Weights cost twelve per pound wholesale; selling them at thirty-one per pound still left him with some profit.
“Boss,” Shi Tian said, “I bought a three-meter Rod from you last time, but it broke before I even got home. I won’t hold you accountable for that this time. Just give me a discount on the Lead Weights; online they’re only about ten dollars per pound. I’m buying in bulk here—how about you sell them to me at twenty dollars? That way you still make a profit!”
