No wonder Shi Tian came to his shop to teach him how to make dumplings! What on earth did he make? Just now, the Fishing Tackle Shop across the street indeed ordered two servings of dumplings. It seems Shi Tian couldn't stand the things he made himself, which is why he came over to confront him!
“Mmm! This is delicious! Xiao Mei, you have to try this dumpling; it’s really good!” As soon as the dumpling entered Luo Yongshan's mouth, his earlier wariness vanished. The dumplings he made were indeed a challenge for Shi Tian!
After sharing twenty dumplings among them, Luo Yongshan was still craving more. He turned around and wrapped up a few dozen more, while Sister Shan stood by the pot cooking the dumplings!
After devouring another plate of dumplings, Shi Tian finally solved his lunch problem! It had been a long time since he had eaten dumplings, and this really satisfied his craving!
Sitting there savoring the taste of the dumplings, Sister Shan specially prepared a bowl of dumpling soup for him, aptly named "original soup for original food." Just as Shi Tian was waiting for the soup to cool down, Su Xueyi's call came through!
“What’s up, Xiao Xue?” Shi Tian answered the phone, puzzled.
Sun Lang and Su Xueyi were both in the shop; why were they calling now? The two of them were busy tying hooks together; did they want to summon him back to feed them dog food?
“Boss, two customers just came into the shop asking to buy a Fishing Rod! But we don’t have the Fishing Rod in the photo they showed us. However, it seems that photo has the Xing Brand trademark on it!”
The ordinary rods were all in stock at the shop. After earning a bit of points from competitions, Shi Tian had long since restocked everything and even had plenty of goods on hand, costing him nearly ten thousand yuan!
“What photo? Send it to me!”
Shi Tian had no intention of returning to the shop. His Xing Brand wasn’t well-known yet; it was impossible for anyone to be using his brand! Being in contact with items in the shop every day, Su Xueyi couldn’t possibly misidentify Xing Brand’s trademark. There must be another story behind this; without confirming the situation, there was no benefit in returning!
After hanging up, Su Xueyi sent over the photo. Shi Tian took a look and thought, “Goodness! That’s Old Man’s Customized Rod! In that photo, he’s out fishing!”
People from Beijing? That made it even more concerning! He opened the shop's surveillance footage and captured an image of the old man and young girl before sending it over via WeChat. Only then did he dial Old Man's number.
“Xiao Tian! What do you want with me? You’re not being very considerate! A few days ago I caught a forty-six-pound Giant Blue and you didn’t even give me a thumbs-up!” As soon as the call connected, Old Man immediately started scolding.
Shi Tian felt a headache coming on from Old Man's words. A few days ago he was busy organizing a Bait Contest; when would he have time to play on his phone? He barely saw sunlight coming or going!
“Wasn’t I organizing a Bait Contest? I’ve been busy for several days and didn’t have time to check my phone. I’ll give you a thumbs-up later!”
“A Bait Contest? You can compete with bait? Can anyone participate? Now tell me what you need me for. It’s been so long since I returned to Beijing and you haven’t even called!” Shi Tian didn’t want to chat idly with Old Man; Old Man didn’t want to chat either since he was still busy fishing!
“Old Man, two people came into my shop—a man and a girl—holding your photo and saying they want to buy a Customized Rod! I’ve sent you their photo on WeChat; take a look and see if you recognize them!”
Shi Tian had no intention of selling Customized Rods right now; his brand wasn’t famous enough for that! He wanted to wait until he gained some recognition before setting high prices—enough for an opening feast!
But who would come asking for a Customized Rod with Old Man's photo? If Old Man didn’t recognize them, he would refuse without hesitation. If they happened to be Old Man’s fishing buddies, that could get complicated!
Old Man’s fishing buddies were no ordinary people. Just one of them could have arms thicker than his thighs. They traveled all the way from Beijing to Sanya just to buy a Fishing Rod from him—could he afford to offend them?
There was silence on the other end for a few seconds before Old Man’s voice came through again: “Old Wen mentioned yesterday morning that he was staying at his granddaughter's place for a couple of days. Turns out he ran off to Sanya! He found you so quickly; that’s impressive!”
With that said, Old Man put away his rod and moved to a quieter spot: “Since he came looking for you, if possible, please customize a set of rods for him! But this old fellow isn’t short on money; set your price higher!”
Hearing this, Shi Tian felt quite pleased. It seemed the old man was worried about him getting the short end of the stick and reminded him to set the price a bit higher. But could he really take advantage of such a big shot? What if the person came back to settle scores later?
"Old man, what do you think is a suitable price for him? Eight thousand for a rod? If it were an ordinary person, I would just report a high figure. But this guy is anything but ordinary! If I quote too high, what if he comes after me for trouble? I can't handle that!"
Upon hearing this, the old man scolded him for being spineless and then murmured to him for quite a while.
After releasing Xia Shou, Shi Tian didn’t bother with any formalities and hurried into the shop.
As soon as he entered, he saw two people sitting there waiting for him. There were two bottles of mineral water on the table, which made Shi Tian feel relieved. Su Xueyi had done well by not making them stand around awkwardly. If Sun Lang had been there, those two would probably still be standing like fools!
"You’re the owner of the shop? You look young! You must have just graduated!" When Shi Tian rushed in, both men stood up, and Old Wen directly asked.
Yesterday, Wen Qianqian had dug up all of Shi Tian's information; otherwise, they wouldn't have known he was coming in.
"Hello, please take a seat. I’m Shi Tian, the owner of this shop. I just graduated!" After inviting them to sit down, Shi Tian continued, "Are you here to buy a fishing rod? Could you show me a photo? I need to confirm if we have it in stock!"
Taking the photo that Old Wen handed over, Shi Tian pretended to examine it seriously for a moment before returning the phone and asking, "Old man, do you know this person in the photo?"
Hearing there was a lead, Old Wen's mood instantly brightened as he smiled and replied, "Kong Tai, my fishing buddy! We’ve been friends for over forty years! Are you familiar with Kong Tai? You can call him right here in front of me or use my phone!"
As long as he could buy a fishing rod, it didn’t matter if he had to leverage Kong Tai’s name!
With Old Wen saying this, Shi Tian immediately smiled and said, "The rod that Old Kong has is a customized rod. If anyone else asked us, we definitely wouldn’t sell it. But since you’re an old friend of Old Kong’s and you’ve asked, we can certainly customize one for you!"
Upon hearing this, Old Wen seemed displeased.
"Doesn’t Old Kong have a whole set of rods? Why can I only order one here?" Shi Tian's words made Old Wen frown. He had come all the way from Beijing only to find out he could only order one rod? What kind of joke was that?
Old Kong had one set while he only had one rod; how could he face Old Kong when they went fishing together?
Seeing Old Wen's dissatisfaction, Shi Tian could only explain with a sheepish smile: "The craftsmanship of customized rods is very complex and requires quite a few rare materials. Many of these materials aren’t available on the market. The little stock we have is what Old Kong left behind at that time; it’s barely enough to make one rod!"
