Sister Shan didn’t help out but instead took out the tea leaves she had prepared earlier and brewed a cup for Shi Tian, placing it in front of him. Knowing that Shi Tian smoked, she even prepared a box of cigarettes for him.
However, Shi Tian wasn’t interested in those things; he didn’t have time to smoke at the moment. He stood at the kitchen door, watching Luo Yongshan busy with the preparations, occasionally offering corrections.
It took over an hour to make a batch of dumplings. Regular customers wouldn’t need that much time; they could simply take the frozen dumplings from the fridge and boil them. But since Shi Tian was there to supervise, everything had to start from scratch. Even the dough-making process, which Shi Tian claimed he didn’t understand, was redone right in front of him by Luo Yongshan.
As he tasted one of the dumplings, Shi Tian carefully savored it. The flavor was indeed stronger than before, likely due to the fresh ingredients Luo Yongshan had specially prepared for this batch.
“Brother Shan,” he said, “these dumplings are decent but still have a lot of room for improvement. I had someone taste them yesterday, and their feedback wasn’t very high. You need to review the videos your sister recorded, especially focusing on some details!”
Upon hearing this, the expressions on Luo Yongshan and his wife’s faces fell. They understood what Shi Tian meant; they had both tasted the dumpling filling that Shi Tian had prepared that day, and it was clear that Luo Yongshan’s skills were lacking in comparison.
Before they could explain themselves, Shi Tian continued, “I have a recipe for vegetarian dumpling filling here. Go check if you have enough ingredients in the kitchen. If you do, I’ll teach you how to prepare it!”
Shi Tian didn’t have much time to waste; he still needed to check out the fishing spot later. However, it seemed that he wouldn’t be able to make it there in the morning after all; it would be better to wait until it cooled down in the afternoon.
He took out Fang Zi while Luo Yongshan immediately ran off to buy fresh ingredients from the market. Even though there were vegetables in the fridge, nothing compared to freshly bought ones.
Shi Tian didn’t waste any of the dumplings; he asked Sister Shan to pack them up so he could take them back to the Fishing Tackle Shop and make amends with Sun Lang’s spirit after being injured by those dumplings!
However, Sun Lang probably thought those dumplings were quite tasty too; at that time, they were feeding each other enthusiastically, making sure neither of them ate less than the other!
In the middle of lunch, Luo Yongshan invited him over again to adjust both fillings right in front of him. As they prepared them together, Shi Tian explained everything step by step, producing two comprehensive tutorials. Halfway through explaining, he became thirsty and drank a cup of tea. Before leaving, Luo Yongshan insisted on giving him another box of specially prepared tea leaves!
After checking out the fishing spot, just as Shi Tian was about to return to the shop, his grandfather called him. His grandfather had come to Sanya without saying a word and asked why he wasn’t at the shop!
Shi Tian was taken aback when he received Old Kong’s call. Who was this? This was the old man who made even Air Force members wary! His grandson had run abroad just to avoid him; what was he doing here bothering him?
With both his father and Air Force members absent, his grandfather had come all by himself to Sanya—what should he do? He had no choice but to entertain him! Even if he didn’t want to do it for his grandfather’s sake, he had to consider Air Force’s reputation! Moreover, his grandfather had personally taught him how to earn nearly five hundred thousand from Old Wen!
When he rushed back to the shop and saw three old men lined up comfortably on the Fishing Platform across from him with fishing rods in hand while two young women were carefully attending to them, he thought their lives seemed too carefree!
After parking his car without saying a word, he went over to greet them! He needed to arrange proper accommodations for his grandfather!
“Grandpa! Why did you come alone? You should have called me in advance so I could pick you up at the airport!” Shi Tian hurriedly greeted as he approached Old Kong.
Looking back at Shi Tian with a grin, his grandfather said, “Let me introduce you: this is Old Wen,” pointing behind him at her granddaughter Qian Qian. “You should know her! And this is Old Liu; behind her is her granddaughter Xin Yue—she’s a senior this year. They took leave early during National Day to bring us two old men here for some fun!”
With a sigh, his grandfather continued, “Ah! These two old men are so fortunate! They both have granddaughters accompanying them while I’m left all alone without anyone! I can only call you over here for some company!”
Great! His grandfather was trying to play the pity card! His grandson has money and power—was it really necessary for him to make himself sound so miserable?
“Alright then, Grandpa! Here I’m just like your grandson; feel free to ask me for anything! Just give me a call and I’ll be there!”
Following the old man's words, Shi Tian glanced at the sky and said, "It's getting late. Would it be alright for you to stay over there? I'll call and have someone prepare everything for you. A few of the old gentlemen and two lovely ladies can stay there as well; it's spacious and comfortable!"
This move allowed Old Kong to show off a bit. "Old Wen, aren't you the big shot? Sneaking over here, and now you still have to stay in a hotel! Look at me—just one phone call, and everything is arranged!"
"Alright, let's stay there then! I'm used to that place! The rooms on the third floor will be for the two girls, and the three of us will take the second floor! But tonight, you'll have to cook for us; we’ll come over to eat!"
Although Shi Tian's place wasn't renovated, the old man still preferred that kind of atmosphere. Compared to a well-decorated hotel, Shi Tian's place had a touch of warmth!
With that settled, Shi Tian called the hotel ahead to arrange rooms and food while driving with the two girls to pick up their luggage.
Old Kong and Liu Laoyezi's luggage was easy; they hadn't even unpacked at the hotel, as Old Kong had instructed. However, Old Wen and Wen Qianqian had a lot of stuff that was all unpacked, so repacking would take some time!
After retrieving the luggage and returning to the shop, Shi Tian picked up the three old gentlemen. With two cars following each other, it was past seven by the time Shi Tian finally settled everyone in!
But that wasn't all; after dropping off their luggage, Shi Tian still had to take them over to his place. Old Kong insisted on cooking tonight; this little task had to be done right!
"What's going on here? Why is this place dug up like this? Are they planning to fix Ren Lake?" Old Kong asked Shi Tian while staring at two large pits without water in the villa area.
Digging a Ren Lake in a villa area sounds great—provided there's water! If it solely relies on high water levels to maintain Ren Lake, that's just too extravagant!
There's a spring on the mountain behind with quite a bit of water. If they dig two Ren Lakes before the eleventh holiday and channel the spring water into them, it would work perfectly! These old men are no simpletons; Shi Tian didn’t dare speak carelessly in front of them. The less he said, the better—who knows which words might land him in trouble!
As they drove into the courtyard and invited everyone upstairs, Shi Tian first brewed some tea for them before turning around to dive into the kitchen!
Today, Luo Yongshan had gifted him a box of tea leaves; otherwise, he wouldn't have enough tea at home to entertain these gentlemen!
"This tea is excellent—Hainan Orchid Noblewoman! It smells fragrant and tastes delightful. And this water is extraordinary too; it must be from that mountain spring!" The old man remarked proudly after taking a gentle sip.
