Young Emperor, send me your address; I’ll send you some crabs. The crab roe here is rich and fatty, and it’s the best time to eat them!
After finishing the call with Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell, Shi Tian was studying the designs of the fishing gear that Su Xueyi had rushed to create overnight when a message from Yun Wan'er came through, sharing a location.
Opening the location made Shi Tian puzzled. Weren't they supposed to go to Shanxi? Why were they heading to Jiangsu instead? Were they being so casual about it?
Closing the chat interface, Shi Tian decided to call Yun Wan'er. Texting was no match for talking.
“Lady Yun, weren’t you all set to go to Shanxi? Why are you at Yangcheng Lake now?”
He had previously sneaked a look at Yun Wan'er’s travel itinerary, which indicated that in autumn they would take the northern route starting from Mount Tai, loop through Shanxi, then Shaanxi, and as it got colder, head down through Yunnan and Guangxi to Sanya. How could they change their plans right after setting off?
“How do you know we were going to Shanxi?” Before Shi Tian could finish his sentence, Yun Wan'er shot back with a question.
This response left Shi Tian startled. If Yun Wan'er knew he had peeked at her travel plans, would she come over to give him a piece of her mind? It was highly likely; after all, Yun Wan'er valued her pride. Changing plans after just one stop according to the itinerary would be somewhat embarrassing!
“I asked Lao Shi for the mailing address when I sent you a birthday gift! Luckily I did; otherwise, I would have sent it home!”
After giving a vague reply, Shi Tian pressed on: “By the way, you guys must be posting on social media while traveling, right? Why haven’t I seen anything from you? You didn’t block me, did you?”
When they were at home, they often shared posts on social media. If Shi Tian didn’t like their posts within a day, he would likely be bombarded with messages from them. Now that they were out having fun, they weren’t posting anything; that was quite unusual.
“We’re out in the human realm; what do you want to meddle in?”
Yun Wan'er retorted sharply, challenging Shi Tian.
“You sent me a birthday gift; isn’t Lao Shi receiving more than I am?”
Last time he sent them gifts, each received a set of jackets and sun protection clothing. He even sent two customized rods to Shi Chui. By this count, it seemed he had indeed sent more items to Lao Shi than to Yun Wan'er!
“Hong Zhuang needs green leaves to complement her beauty! You’re so pretty; you can’t let Lao Shi feel embarrassed by being around you all the time! You’re not trying to force Lao Shi to take you to Yangcheng Lake just for the Chinese Mitten Crab, are you?”
Shi Tian didn’t want to get too deep into discussing birthday gifts with Yun Wan'er. Chatting with her often led nowhere good; he could easily find himself caught in her words and held hostage by her arguments!
Seeing that Shi Tian had steered the conversation back toward Yangcheng Lake, Yun Wan'er quickly defended herself: “We originally planned to go to Shanxi, but then I thought about that spendthrift woman who ruined the whole country. After staying at that grand courtyard for a few days during her escape, and now they take pride in it—just thinking about it makes me sick! So we decided not to go!”
Shi Tian replied: “You’re so high-minded! Are you sure it’s not because of wanting to eat Chinese Mitten Crab that you changed your itinerary?”
“By your logic, that woman has even stayed at the Forbidden City! The Forbidden City was built by Zhu Di; even the Ming Emperor upheld it. Even Zhu Youjian hung himself on Coal Mountain but never took a step back for survival!”
“Even when it came to the Great Qing dynasty, there was Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang and Kangxi. What’s Empress Dowager Cixi worth? She brought shame upon herself all the way to Europe and caused calamity for an entire nation!”
In front of him, Shi Tian felt too inexperienced; with just one sentence, he was left speechless. How could he argue against that? She had elevated the discussion to matters of national sentiment, while he was still stuck on trivial family matters. No matter how he tried to counter, he would always be at a disadvantage!
"Alright, you’re right. I’ll send you the address; pick out a few fat ones for me! Remember to choose those with yellow toenails and yellow legs!"
Last time, Old Kong brought crabs with yellow toenails, and they were quite delicious. He hoped Yun Wan'er wouldn’t be fooled this time! However, the chances of her being deceived were slim; she was quite sharp.
As long as there was something to eat, that was good enough! But the medical expenses were still considerable! "Shipping is on delivery, how many do you want?"
"Shipping on delivery? Then I don’t want them! I have plenty of crabs here; they’re all in the Hai Li River. There’s no need to spend money on a few crabs!" Upon hearing about the shipping costs, Shi Tian decisively refused.
With Shunfeng's cold chain service, it would cost ten for a kilogram. If Yun Wan'er sent him crabs, it wouldn’t be cheap! With ice packs and packaging, it easily added up to ten kilograms; how much would that shipping cost?
He welcomed the idea of her sending crabs but absolutely refused to pay for shipping. Since Yun Wan'er had already brought it up, it was likely that she had already purchased the crabs and might even have them packed up, just waiting for delivery! The crabs would eventually arrive; the only difference would be whether Yun Wan'er or he would cover the shipping fees!
However, it was most likely that Shi Chui would end up paying!
"Your Fishing Tackle Shop has only been open for a few days! Is it going to close down?" Hearing Shi Tian quibble over a few hundred dollars in shipping fees made Yun Wan'er curiously ask.
She didn’t think much of Shi Tian’s little Fishing Tackle Shop either. But if he wanted to struggle with it, let him; experiencing some hardship could be a learning opportunity!
"No need for your concern; my shop is doing well! We have daily sales in the four-digit range! It’s just that improving Father’s and Mother’s palace is quite costly; every penny must be spent wisely. How could I compromise on food for two?"
"In that case, I won’t send you any crabs to save you some shipping costs!" Shi Tian had initially thought he could benefit from Yun Wan'er but didn’t expect her to hang up directly!
Yun Wan'er didn’t not want to chat with Shi Tian further; it was just that fish were coming in at Shi Chui's side, and she needed to help him with the catch. If things went well, that would be their dinner!
