Sun Lang shared the results of the afternoon, while Su Xueyi ordered a roast chicken, Kang Ziyu called for a portion of lamb chops, and Shi Tian personally cooked, adding several pounds of vegetables. The sumptuous dinner left the four of them sprawled on their chairs, unwilling to move.
In the villa area, Shi Tian parked the car at the entrance of Kezi Yu's villa, but she did not get out.
"We ate a bit too much. How about we go fishing at Artificial Lake?" Kezi Yu suggested, turning to Shi Tian from the passenger seat.
"Fishing at Artificial Lake this late? What are you thinking, Kang Ziyu?" Shi Tian replied, puzzled.
"Fishing at Artificial Lake? For koi? That doesn't sound very appetizing!" Shi Tian had never eaten koi before, but since Kang Ziyu was inviting her, she had no reason to refuse.
Hearing this, Kezi Yu shot Shi Tian an exasperated look and said, "The koi in my yard's Artificial Lake are a bit dull. Let's catch a few to decorate it! Once the koi breed, we can send the big fish over as a way to borrow fish for breeding!"
"I've been keeping an eye on this for several days. The security in this villa area won't patrol here at this hour—at least not for another two hours. With your skills, you should be able to catch quite a few in that time!"
"I'll take some pictures with my phone while you fish. We'll split whatever you catch fifty-fifty!"
"Borrowing fish for breeding? That's a new term for me," Shi Tian thought. However, koi weren't expensive; the ones in Large Artificial Lake weren't even of particularly high quality. Instead of fishing for them, it would be better to buy a few from Flower Bird Market. Kang Ziyu didn't seem like someone who would miss a few bucks!
Indeed, everything tastes better when it's free. Kang Ziyu's idea was somewhat similar to his; Manager Liu had offered to deliver fish right to their door, but he had turned that down and instead grabbed his Fishing Rod to go steal some!
"Alright, let's go! I have Fishing Gear at my place; we can go fishing together. We should be able to catch at least ten in two hours!" With that, Shi Tian drove her car back to her villa to grab her gear and head out with Kang Ziyu—she couldn't let her miss out on the fun!
With two 2.7-meter rods and a pack of bait for carp, they prepared well with glowing floats and packed a small Fish Bucket before sneaking along the path toward Artificial Lake.
"Over there! Over there! There are plenty of fish!" Kang Ziyu exclaimed as she pointed towards a spot behind some rocks. "I've been feeding them there for days; just toss in some Fish Bait and they all gather around!"
Kang Ziyu had been eyeing those koi in Artificial Lake for quite some time. Ever since Manager Liu brought people to stock the lake with fish, she had been coming daily to feed them.
As she fed them day after day, she became attached and wanted to catch some to keep in her own Small Artificial Lake.
During the day, security often patrolled this area; if they were caught taking fish from the lake, it would be embarrassing. But at night, she didn't dare come alone.
When Shi Tian was seen wandering by Artificial Lake with her Fishing Rod one day, Kang Ziyu saw an opportunity and opened a large gate.
Since Shi Tian could fish and was willing to accompany her at night, they could catch three or four fish each time. If they fished for ten days or so, her Small Artificial Lake would no longer be dull!
Hearing this made Shi Tian pause; it seemed Kang Ziyu had already scoped out the place and was just waiting for the right moment to catch koi from Artificial Lake! She must have been preparing for several days!
"Alright then! Let's go there! Wait a moment; I'll help you adjust your float so we can fish together—it'll be more efficient!" After glancing back at Kang Ziyu, Shi Tian nodded in agreement.
Shi Tian adjusted the float while Kang Ziyu pulled out a plastic lunch box from behind the rock. When she opened it, it was filled with Fish Feed that she had specifically bought for feeding the koi!
The fish in the lake were well-trained by Kang Ziyu; once she tossed in a handful of feed, they quickly gathered around with splashes and commotion.
"Wait! Don't throw any more! They'll eat too much!" As Kang Ziyu continued tossing feed into the water, Shi Tian quickly reached out to stop her.
Kang Ziyu's method of feeding was a bit excessive. Now, the koi were all floating on the surface, mouths agape, waiting for the food to fall from the sky. In this situation, trying to catch fish became quite challenging. Koi, like carp, had similar habits and often preferred to gather at the bottom of the water. If Kang Ziyu continued to feed them, with all the fish at the surface, how could they possibly catch any?
Fortunately, there weren't many residents in the villa area; it was mostly just Kang Ziyu who came daily to feed the fish. If a few more people joined in, Shi Tian feared these fish would end up being overfed and turned into gluttonous creatures!
Once Kang Ziyu stopped feeding, the fish gradually dove down to search for the food that had sunk to the bottom. Noticing the fish sinking, Shi Tian raised his hand and tossed the rod to Kang Ziyu, saying, "Keep an eye on that float. The moment it gets pulled under, you lift it up!"
"Got it!" Kang Ziyu replied with a nod as he took hold of the fishing rod, his gaze fixed on the float. Meanwhile, Shi Tian assembled another rod, baited it, and cast it into the water.
The fish in the artificial lake were not like those in Yuehu.
On the mountain by Yuehu, there were hardly any fish moving near Ren Lake, and no one fed them. As a result, those fish were wary; they would swim deeper whenever someone approached.
The koi in the artificial lake were domesticated and had no fear of humans. The more commotion there was, the closer they came to eat. They would rush over at any sound that hinted at food.
After so many days of training with Kang Ziyu, this group of fish had become mindless gluttons. Koi brought good fortune to those who encountered them.
