As soon as the bait was thrown into the water, a swarm of fish gathered to compete for it. Before Shi Tian's bait even sank to the bottom, Li Ziyu had already hooked a fish!
"I got one!" she whispered excitedly as she reeled in a vibrant red koi.
Since they intended to keep the fish alive, they used barbless hooks to minimize harm. With Li Ziyu catching fish, Shi Tian quickly opened the fish bucket to welcome the first catch!
One for you, one for me; with six or seven fish, that small bucket was starting to feel a bit cramped!
"The bucket can't hold any more; let's transfer them to your fish pond! If we catch too many, the fish in the bucket will run out of oxygen!" Shi Tian said with a smirk, keeping an eye on their count.
"Slow and steady wins the race," he thought. If he filled up Li Ziyu's pond all at once, how would he find an excuse to invite her out fishing again?
"Alright, I'm here. You should head back now! It's getting late; you need to rest!" After dropping Li Ziyu off at her villa, Shi Tian found himself turned away at the door. After spending half the evening fishing with her, he hadn't even been offered a glass of water, let alone allowed inside!
The next day at the fishing tackle shop, Liu Ju and the others were preparing to close up. Judging by their buckets, they must have had a good haul; smiles lit up their faces!
"How did it go? You all look so happy; you must have caught some big ones!" Shi Tian approached Xu Yuanxiang and offered him a cigarette while eyeing the bucket in his hands.
"Not much luck; just a few worthless little fish. We came here before dawn and haven't even made enough to cover fuel costs. I'm off to grab breakfast!" Xu Yuanxiang replied absentmindedly as he took the cigarette but showed no intention of opening his bucket for Shi Tian to see.
After exchanging pleasantries with Shi Tian, Xu Yuanxiang stuffed his bucket into the trunk and turned to gather his other gear, casually checking his pocket for his car keys before quietly pressing the lock button.
Seeing this behavior from Xu Yuanxiang almost made Shi Tian flip him off! If he didn't want to talk, fine, but locking his car right in front of him? Did he think Shi Tian couldn't open his trunk and check his bucket without permission?
Watching the three of them pack up and drive away, then glancing at Bao Gan Ge's approaching vehicle made Shi Tian quickly jump into his own car and hit the gas!
Was this guy coming back for revenge? That fish from yesterday must have gone into their bellies! Even if it hadn't, that fish wouldn't survive long out of water!
When bought, it was alive; now unless he could produce an equally large live fish as compensation, there was no way he would admit defeat!
With Bao Gan Ge in the shop, Shi Tian wasn't planning on staying there for long anyway. Sun Lang and Su Xueyi were watching things over there; his absence wouldn't make much difference!
Wandering aimlessly for a while, he spotted a bro carrying a rod and fishing box riding an electric car towards Liudao Bay. Shi Tian decided to follow him. There was something exhilarating about stealthily trailing someone else to steal their fishing spot!
Unfortunately, he hadn't brought any live shrimp from the shop earlier; if he wanted to go shore fishing, he'd have to shamelessly borrow some bait!
But among fellow fishermen, borrowing a few live shrimp shouldn't be an issue. He would play it by ear—if borrowing didn't work out, he'd think of another way. Surely no fisherman would be stumped without bait; that would be too unprofessional!
Heading south until there were almost no roads left, the electric car finally stopped. Shi Tian dared not approach too closely; if he scared the guy away, it would be troublesome. He needed to wait until he saw him cast his line before making his move!
Watching as the electric car guy grabbed his fishing gear and slipped down a narrow path, Shi Tian quietly followed along that path worn by footsteps. Finally arriving at a rocky area, he spotted the bro tying up his fishing set.
This spot looked promising; next to it was a little bay where the fishing spot was right at the mouth of the bay—a perfect hiding place for big fish!
On the way back along the wild path, with his gear on his back and the car locked up, Shi Tian leisurely walked up behind Electric Car Guy and said, "Hey, you like fishing here too? I thought I was the only one who knew about this place!"
Startled by the voice behind him, Electric Car Guy turned around, his face falling in disbelief. "You’ve been here before? How come I didn’t know? That little fishing path was all made by me! I’ve been careful to avoid stepping on the grass by the main road every time I came here, afraid someone would find my secret spot!"
Now that this young man had found him, what could he say? He couldn't just chase him away; the sea didn't belong to him!
"You've fished here before? How come I've never seen you?" Electric Car Guy rolled his eyes at Shi Tian, looking utterly helpless. All he hoped was that Shi Tian wouldn’t expose this fishing spot. If word got out, it would be packed with people by next weekend!
"I’ve come a few times by boat. When do you usually come to fish? I’ve never seen you before! I thought this place was my little secret!" Shi Tian replied with a slight smile, trying to sound serious.
"So what if you haven’t seen me? I haven’t seen you either! I’ve been fishing right here; if you have the guts, try to chase me away!"
Seeing that Electric Car Guy wasn’t responding, Shi Tian didn’t mind. He found a relatively flat spot, set down his Fishing Box, and slowly took out his shore fishing rod from the Rod Bag, methodically tying on his Fishing Set.
