Watching the lone crab wave its claw without any lingering attachment, Shi Tian quickly hung a piece of Xia Rou, hoping to rekindle their past connection.
On the other side, Wang Gou had hooked a big fish, which he had noticed long ago. However, after glancing at the fish on Wang Gou's rod, Shi Tian decided it was best to focus on his own float; that fish wasn’t coming up anytime soon!
The fish was indeed large, weighing at least thirty pounds, but it wasn't particularly appealing. In fact, its meat was so unappetizing that even dogs wouldn't eat it!
A thirty-pound Bigeye Mullet spun around a few times in the water, occasionally performing a one-and-a-half somersault in the air, which made Wang Gou extremely cautious. The value of the fish didn’t matter; what truly counted was the thrill of battling with such a creature. Watching the Bigeye Mullet wash its gills repeatedly sent Wang Gou's heart racing like a rollercoaster!
Fishermen are quite particular, especially when they’ve just cast their lines and haven’t experienced hours of inactivity with their floats. The quality of fishermen tends to be high during these moments.
As Wang Gou struggled with the big fish, a dozen fishermen rushed over to find their own fishing spots but consciously gave Wang Gou space to maneuver. Even the lure enthusiasts, who typically looked down on those practicing Taiwanese fishing, refrained from causing any disturbance at that moment.
Catching a Bigeye Mullet isn’t easy; while it’s simple for them to bite the hook, they have a high chance of getting off. Faced with the Bigeye Mullet washing its gills repeatedly on his rod, Wang Gou kept lowering his rod to prevent it from escaping—this was the most effective method.
The Bigeye Mullet was strong but could be worn out. When hooked, there’s no need to rush pulling it up; letting it tire itself out for a while would lead to its eventual surrender!
As the fish neared the shore, Tan grinned and began assembling a large landing net to help out. Aiming for the fish's tail, he swung the net down, causing the fish on Wang Gou's rod to dart several meters away!
“Hey, hey! Take it easy! I’ll treat you tonight; let’s grab some skewers!” Tan said playfully as Wang Gou immediately conceded.
There was no way around it; their Taiwanese fishing crew wasn’t present! Shi Tian could lend a hand, but he had hooked a fish himself and was busy reeling it in—he wouldn’t be able to come over anytime soon!
The Bigeye Mullet was tough; Tan’s landing net wasn’t as effective as a control tool. Anyone who fished with lures would surely have one; Tan was just trying to provoke him!
“Skewers? That sounds good! Can I choose whatever I want?” Wang Gou shot a glance at Tan, whose tone was laced with threat.
Once again dragging the fish toward the shore, Tan swung his net down again—this time aiming for the tail—and scared the Bigeye Mullet into darting away several meters once more!
“Go ahead! Choose whatever you want! I’ve got enough meat skewers and beer!” Seeing Tan make another move, Wang Gou quickly agreed to an unequal treaty.
“Just wait until I land this fish; you’ll see what I can do!” But deep down, Wang Gou knew better than to act rashly; there were too many people from Da Gui Pai around. A wise man doesn’t suffer losses in front of others—he’d just have to wait for his chance!
After nearly giving Wang Gou a heart attack with all his antics, Tan felt it was time to wrap things up. He put away his landing net and took out his control tool from his waist. Wrapping Wang Gou's line around his arm, he dragged the fish toward shore and expertly lifted it out of the water with ease!
"Come on, take a picture!" Tang held up the fish and handed his phone to Wang Gou with an air of authority.
"Brother, move it in a bit, be careful not to let the fish slip away!" Wang Gou took Tang's phone, suppressing his anger and pleading helplessly.
Tang had just pulled the fish up but hadn’t left the shore yet. If he relaxed his grip now, the fish could easily flip and dive back into the sea!
"Hurry up, make it look good! I can barely hold this thing; if my arms get tired and it escapes, it’s not my fault!"
Click, click—after a few photos, Wang Gou picked one that looked decent and showed it to Tang. "Brother, it's done! Are you satisfied?"
With a smile, Tang took back the phone and handed the fish over to Wang Gou. He immediately sent the photo to their group chat to claim ownership of the catch!
After posting in the group chat, he didn’t stop there; he opened his Moments.
"First cast of the day and I caught this! Even my cat won’t eat it!"
Once he finished with his Moments, Tang turned his phone back to Wang Gou. "Dog Brother, hold it higher; let me take a picture for you to post!"
After sending a few more photos, Wang Gou shook his head and sighed. "You really are something else!"
This fishing experience was truly frustrating!
However, the fishing conditions here were indeed great; catching such a big one on the first cast made it all worthwhile. For the sake of good fishing, he could endure!
With the fish secured and using Live Shrimp as bait, he waved his rod out again. As long as the bites kept coming, he could tolerate any inconvenience!
While Wang Gou was finishing up, Shi Tian was also wrapping things up on his end. From a distance, he spotted Shi Tian with a Bigeye Mullet that was significantly smaller than Wang Gou's catch. After a brief exchange of waves, they bid each other farewell!
