How big is the Qiao Zui here? What size hooks are we using? Before we drop the hooks, we should check on the fish situation; that's basic operation.
There are some large ones, not small, unevenly distributed, mostly around the size of a big Asian carp, with more in the range of one to two feet. After thinking for a moment, Chao Fen Ge said uncertainly.
He had fished here before and had caught Qiao Zui, but he had never specifically targeted them in this area.
Then let's use size Izu hooks. For the main line and the leader line, you start cutting the corn while I check the depth with the lobster. One to two feet for Qiao Zui is considered quite decent.
Qiao Zui usually swims in the upper to mid-layers, but sometimes they can be found in the lower mid-layers. However, fishing at the bottom often yields less; we still need to adjust the float according to the Fish Layer to determine the fishing depth.
We found a stretch of open water and set up three adjacent Fishing Spots near several Fishing Buddies, dividing them among us. Chao Fen Ge was busy preparing corn, which is mainly used for baiting.
When fishing for Qiao Zui, it's essential to keep replenishing bait. After pulling a few times, you need to add more bait frequently. The more often you do this, the more fish you'll catch.
We used heavy weights to find the bottom with a Seven Point Two Rod; the water was nearly four meters deep. Up and down, Wang Ergou searched for the Fish Layer from below while Lobster looked for it from above.
After switching to Hooks and Lead Weights, I took out a pack of Qiao Zui Wo Liao from the Fishing Box. Each of us sprinkled a handful into the water; we could slowly lure in fish once we located the Fish Layer.
Each person had half a basin of tender corn to confirm the Fish Layer, preventing Chao Fen from raising his bait too high. Wang Ergou picked up some Qiao Zui Wo Liao and scattered it across all three Fishing Spots; half a pack was already gone.
We didn't waste any leftovers; we divided them among us and decided to use this as our Bait today. I quietly told Chao Fen to tie some rubber bands and put them in his pocket; now we just wait for the fish to come into our baited area.
After finishing everything up, I took out a pack of Bait and split it in half, putting one half in the earlier Qiao Zui Wo Liao bag and placing the other half next to Chao Fen's Wo Liao basin. As for Lobster, he had his own Bait and didn't need what Wang Ergou prepared for him.
While fishing for Qiao Zui, I adjusted the Float and just waited for a bite.
Qiao Zui bites hard; they aren't as polite as Grass Carp. If you see a darkening float or it drags slowly downwards, that usually means a bigger fish is on the line.
Before Wang Ergou returned to our Fishing Spot, Chao Fen already hooked a fish—a Qiao Zui less than half a meter long made it onto shore, weighing nearly two pounds!
A bite! Quickly replenish some corn and attach two Plastic Particles before casting again.
After half an hour, we started getting consecutive catches; our baited area was well established with a decent density of fish.
With Qiao Zui density reaching an optimal level, we began adding Bait again. Each person would take turns dropping it in to assess the situation before replenishing!
When fishing for Qiao Zui, there's no need to worry about Xiao Yu disrupting our baited area; more Xiao Yu means more Bai Tiao will come as well. If Bai Tiao density reaches a certain level, their luring effect is just as good as adding corn!
While mingling with Xu Xiang and their Bai Tiao baiting efforts, Shi Tianyi caught several Black Sea Bream and Yellowfin Snapper in the morning. However, when he pulled up a tiny Little Pufferfish, he suddenly felt like he had forgotten something these past few days!
He reeled in his Rod and hurried back to the shop with his Fishing Box.
