Upon hearing that Shi Tian wanted to learn how to cook Pufferfish, Yi Laotou's expression shifted from sunny to cloudy in an instant.
"Pufferfish? That's simple! One day I'll give you a copy of the Qing Nang Jing and the Qing Nang Ao Zhi. Once you've figured it out, you can choose a good spot for yourself and eat it however you like!"
The Qing Nang Jing is a book about the feng shui of burial sites. I wonder if it contains profound insights like the Xun Long Jin regarding the intricacies of mountain layers? However, judging by Yi Laotou's tone, it seemed that another storm was brewing.
As thunder rumbled, Shi Tian quickly tried to salvage the situation, saying, "Master, I only fed a cat! It kept insisting on eating Pufferfish, but this thing is poisonous. I'm just not sure how to handle it safely!"
In this critical moment, he could only use Tang Tang as a shield. As long as he could quell Yi Laotou's thunderous wrath, when Tang Tang returned, he would definitely offer it some Xiao Yu as a form of compensation!
"Don't mess around! Without anyone here to guide you, how can you cook Pufferfish? Wait until I teach you when you return; for now, just forget about it!"
Even though using Tang Tang had extinguished part of Yi Laotou's anger, Shi Tian still endured more than ten minutes of scolding by having to borrow the excuse of his Customized Rod to smooth things over!
Shi Tian currently had several Customized Rods—two nine-meter and ten-meter rods from Old Kong, Yi Laotou's Iso Rod, Wen Qianqian's Fly Rod, and one from Old Gao. Thinking about it now, they all needed to be shipped out.
Yun Wan'er was arriving in a couple of days; he had to wrap up these matters quickly!
On the drive back, he prepared dozens of bags of Wo Liao for the old men—enough to last them at least half a month!
The Rod had already been customized; everything was packed neatly. He also took Old Gao's Rod with him. Since he could still catch the early express delivery truck, he hurriedly sent off the package!
Wang Ergou and his crew had established their fishing spot well. One by one, they were pulling up Qiao Zui while scooping corn down. Occasionally, they supplemented with a scoop of Bait.
The Qiao Zui in this reservoir were not farmed; they were wild. Fish under two pounds weren't too expensive—about ten dollars a pound—but once they exceeded two pounds, the price doubled.
With more fish being caught here, it naturally attracted attention. Nearby fishing buddies came over for tips, offering cigarettes and drinks just to trade for some Wo Liao with Wang Ergou.
Wang Ergou was not stingy; as fellow fishing buddies, he couldn't let them go empty-handed while he had rods at the ready. He felt anxious seeing them so eager!
A few packs of cigarettes went into his pocket, and he handed out half a pack of Bait. Watching everyone busy themselves made Wang Ergou feel relieved! After all, many hands make light work!
The nearby fishing buddies noticed the commotion as well as Black Pit Boss, who couldn't ignore what was happening any longer.
In just three hours of fishing, each of those three had caught at least thirty or forty pounds of Qiao Zui—most over half a meter long! If he didn't step in now, they would be losing big today!
"Wife, grab a bag and pack up some dragon fruit; I need to send those three pests on their way!" Seeing the three pulling in fish one after another made Black Pit Boss restless.
Only three hours had passed! They'd caught so many fish already and still had five hours left! How many fish would they end up with? That was all money!
"What's the rush? Let them keep fishing! Don't we have videos on our phones? Later we can prepare a goose for them; won't they just release all the fish back into the reservoir then? That would promote our reservoir too—what's not to like?"
Watching her anxious husband pacing back and forth, Boss Lady remained unfazed.
"Are you out of your mind? Do you see any photographers with them? They’re not influencers! They’re here to take advantage of our reservoir!" The Black Pit Boss shot a pained glance at the boss lady. It seemed like she had been watching too many short videos and was lost in her own thoughts.
Once the boss pointed it out, the boss lady finally noticed that these people really didn’t have any filming equipment; even their phones were tucked away in their pockets, and they hadn’t taken them out to check at all!
Realizing this, the boss lady became anxious. She grabbed three bags and filled them with dragon fruit, then hurried over to where Wang Ergou and his friends were.
Fortunately, the boss was quick on his feet and caught her just in time. If she had approached those three, it might have turned into a fight!
"Hey guys, it’s hot out. Here, have some dragon fruit to quench your thirst!" He placed the dragon fruit beside them. The Black Pit Boss leaned closer to Wang Ergou and chuckled, "I’m sorry, I didn’t recognize you esteemed gentlemen. How about this: I’ll refund your fishing expenses, and you can take the fish with you. This is just a small business for me; can you let me off easy?"
The Black Pit Boss was conceding, and Wang Ergou along with the lobster were immediately pleased!
Did they drive all this way just for a few dozen pounds of fish? Wasn’t it more about making the Black Pit Boss acknowledge them and gaining that sense of accomplishment?
Seeing the boss back down, Wang Ergou stood up, handed a cigarette to the Black Pit Boss, and said, "The sheep behind you are yours, right? In that case, you don’t need to refund the fishing expenses. Keep the fish; I’ll give you an extra five bucks if you help me catch a Black Goat to take back! Make sure it’s a big one!"
The Wanning Black Goat was quite a prized possession; he had noticed it when they arrived at this fishing spot. It wasn’t easy to find outside, and it was in high demand, costing significantly more than goats from other places.
With three people’s fishing expenses totaling over five bucks, Wang Ergou added another five along with that extra pound of Qiao Zui. Swapping for a Black Goat seemed reasonable; in this way, the boss would definitely come out ahead.
While out in someone else’s territory, Wang Ergou and his friends couldn’t push things too far. This wasn’t strictly a profit or loss situation; even if they didn’t count Yu Hu’s fish, spending a thousand bucks on a Black Goat wouldn’t be a loss for them!
Hearing Wang Ergou’s words made the Black Pit Boss feel like this tactic was all too familiar!
