Under the astonished gaze of Last Rod Brother, within half an hour, Air Force and Lu Ya each carried a three-kilogram Carp and left with Shi Tian in a carefree manner.
As soon as the three departed, Last Rod Brother rushed to the fishing spot of the two and cast his line, determined to reel in his catch quickly. The fishing area in Xishuang Jing had become a calling card for Xishuangbanna.
Lu Ya owned a small villa here, which he had purchased casually during a visit to Xishuangbanna. At that time, the area was still undeveloped, and amidst the wild grass, this villa community had been built. To the west was a rundown village, while to the east lay barren land. The view in front was quite pleasant; stepping outside led directly to the Lancang River. However, reaching the riverbank required navigating through thick weeds for over ten minutes.
The two hundred unfinished villas were priced at four thousand each, totaling just about eight hundred thousand. Now, prices had skyrocketed to twelve thousand.
“Xiao Tian, I’ve been kicked out by my old man just to help you steal an ID! I’m homeless now!” After finishing dinner outside, Lu Ya flopped onto the sofa and turned to Shi Tian with a pitiful expression.
“Lu Ge, isn’t that the Lancang River right across? Are we allowed to fish there?” Standing on the terrace and looking out, he saw the Lancang River winding past them in a grand arc.
“No fishing allowed; you can go a kilometer down and fish there.”
“Then why are there so many people fishing by the river?”
“They can’t read! This is the very end of the no-fishing zone; if it’s just one rod per person, no one cares!”
Instinctively responding, Lu Ya suddenly stood up and exclaimed, “I’m homeless now, and you’re only worried about where to fish? Is there any humanity in you?”
A kilometer further southeast was a large bridge where Liushahu flowed from west to east into the Lancang River; that marked the end of the no-fishing zone for the Lancang River.
Liushahu lived up to its reputation; its waters could rival those of the Yellow River in terms of sediment content. Shi Tian feared that if this continued for too long, the sand rushing down from Liushahu would fill up the Lancang River.
However, he realized he might be overthinking it; the flow rate of the Lancang River was quite high, and any sediment entering would be washed away immediately. The only unfortunate part was that this sand would benefit Lao Mian.
“It won’t happen! You’re the only heir of Old Lu Family; how could they kick you out?” With a chuckle, Shi Tian turned his gaze back to the Lancang River and asked, “Lu Ge, is that lively place over there a water market?”
Lu Ya was already tired of talking to him; this kid never followed the script and didn’t take his bait!
Since he wasn’t going to engage further, there was no need for him to continue either. “It’s night now; I’m going to catch up on sleep. Tonight I’ll take you out for a stroll; there are some bars over there where we can have a few drinks.”
With that said, Lu Ya turned towards his room. He had initially wanted to play the pity card to convince Shi Tian into selling him a customized rod since his own rod had been robbed by Old Lu. It wouldn’t be appropriate to ask Shi Tian for a free set of rods; however, buying one at Old Wen’s price would still be feasible.
Shi Tian likely sensed his intentions as well. Since Shi Tian wasn’t engaging with him, he wouldn’t hold back either. Once Shi Tian fell asleep later, he would lock up that set of rods from Shi Tian’s car in his room. He didn’t believe that Shi Tian wouldn’t fish in Xishuangbanna. As long as he fished, they could have a serious discussion—either sell him another customized rod or let Shi Tian’s rod bear the Lu surname!
Upon entering the room, I perked up my ears to listen to the sounds outside. There was some commotion coming from Shi Tian's room, so I quickly set an alarm for one hour later—Xia Shou!
At one o'clock in the afternoon, Old Kong had arranged for Xiao Yu to finally arrive. After a busy morning, four elderly men carefully directed the workers as they poured the fish into the pond and turned on the oxygen pump, deciding not to feed them just yet.
The newly arrived fish were not accustomed to the temperature and quality of the water in their new environment. Even if we tried to feed them at this point, they wouldn’t eat. If the fish didn’t eat in this hot weather, they would start to spoil within a day or two, and then we would be left with dead fish to deal with!
I decided to head out to the beach and cast a few lines. After observing Xiao Yu in the pond for a while and confirming everything was fine, Old Wen turned to the other elderly men and spoke.
The old men were skilled; their expertise was far beyond what Shi Tian could offer. They had come here to raise fish, and it was essential to have all the necessary facilities in place.
On the other side of the board house, there were two small paths: one led up the mountain directly to Xinyue Lake, specifically to its inlet. The other path led straight down to the beach.
The fish in the pond were meant for Xingxing, so they were off-limits for fishing.
Over at Xinyue Lake, a new Fishing Platform had been constructed. Unlike Shi Ye and his group, who built their platform by the lakeshore, this one extended into the lake itself, featuring a pavilion surrounded by benches—this was their 360-degree Fishing Platform.
Unfortunately, this Fishing Platform still required some finishing touches; it would likely take another twenty or thirty days before it could be put into use.
