Since it was Li Yunfei's first catch, it deserved a bit of ceremony. With a sense of occasion, he could reel in his prize more quickly, so the Net had to make its appearance.
To be honest, Li Yunfei was quite lucky; his first fish weighed around six pounds, which was already a commendable achievement. After letting Li Yunfei enjoy the thrill of the catch, Shi Tian skillfully scooped the fish up with the Net.
"Here you go, brother! This is your first catch; let me take a photo to commemorate it." Holding the fish out in front of Li Yunfei, Shi Tian smiled slightly. "Lift it up a bit higher so it looks bigger!"
After taking the photo and removing the hook, without needing any reminders from Shi Tian, Li Yunfei began to prepare his bait and cast his line again.
"You're really impressive! Catching such a big fish on your first try is quite rare. Scan this code to join our group; I'll send you the photo so you can post it on your social media!"
After reminding Li Yunfei, he pulled him into the group chat. Once the photo was sent, Shi Tian continued fishing for his own little Lophius.
Post on social media? Does it really need to be that flashy? But what this kid said made sense; sharing a fish he caught himself wasn’t such a big deal!
Once he posted on social media, within ten minutes, his phone started ringing off the hook.
"Director Li, went fishing? That one looks beautiful! Must weigh over ten pounds! I know where there are some Big Carp, let’s plan a trip together sometime!"
"When did you develop such an interest in fishing? Is that the Lancang River? Send me your coordinates; I want to cast a few lines too."
Ever since he posted that on social media after hearing Shi Tian's suggestion, Li Yunfei's phone hadn’t stopped buzzing. There were calls from business partners, old friends, and even some elders!
Is it really just about one fish? Is it necessary to make such a fuss? Glancing at Shi Tian, Li Yunfei silently deducted five points from him; all this fuss was because of that kid, leaving him to deal with a barrage of calls!
After hanging up another call, Li Yunfei opened his social media again. He needed to delete that post quickly; otherwise, more calls would come in.
But looking at the dozens of comments and likes below his post, he hesitated. Even though many comments were filled with flattery, at least they were heartfelt! Maybe he should leave it for now and delete it later tonight!
Putting his phone away, he noticed that the Float had started to dip again. As he lifted the line, another Carp was caught.
This one was much smaller than the last—only about two pounds—but still decent enough. He pressed on, hoping for another big one to tease that kid!
Watching as Li Yunfei continued reeling in fish without time for conversation, a smirk crept onto Shi Tian's face.
"See? Gotcha!"
With that settled, he stood up and opened his Fishing Box. Two sets of Azure Wind Antelope paired with two portions of Grass Carp Bait were tossed into the water. It was about time for him to catch a couple of fish too!
In Xishuangbanna, the Azure Catfish in the Lancang River are quite scarce, and with Da Tian making such a commotion, even if there were fish, they wouldn't bite. Coupled with Grass Carp Bait, the chances of catching something increase a bit.
With a handful of Azure Wind Antelope in his left pocket and a small amount of Grass Carp Bait in his right, he placed a bag of Bait in front of him. Everything was set! He switched to a heavy Line, hung a Wo Liao on each hook, and cast his rod, eager to see what fish would be attracted.
"Here you go, brother," he said, handing a cigarette to Li Yunfei. Shi Tian didn't expect Li Yunfei to pull out a lighter; he casually lit it for him instead.
As the smoke curled up, Li Yunfei suddenly remembered that he had come here with a mission today! He was getting too caught up in fishing!
Before he could organize his thoughts, Shi Tian turned around and returned to his spot, ignoring him.
Looking at the cigarette in his hand, Li Yunfei frowned. No wonder the kid didn’t react when he handed him the smoke; he must have been used to smoking packaged ones. Did Old Kong really have that many cigarettes to spare?
What kind of relationship did this kid have with Old Kong? Was he stealing all of Old Kong's stash?
After about half an hour, Li Yunfei had already caught two fish while Shi Tian hadn’t even managed to reel in a single Lophius.
Glancing at Shi Tian, Li Yunfei smiled slightly. So far, this kid had been behaving decently, but the fishing conditions were rather poor. For someone fishing for the first time to catch so many big fish while Shi Tian was only getting tiny Lophius—his skills must be lacking! Could it be that he had some sort of intelligence issue?
Li Yunfei examined the fish he had caught and then looked at his Rod before glancing over at Shi Tian. Although he wanted to catch a couple more fish, business came first; he needed to chat with Shi Tian for a bit.
He stood up and moved closer to Shi Tian. Before he could say anything, he noticed Shi Tian leaning forward with his hand resting on the Rod.
Was another fish on the line? He decided to wait until this one was reeled in before speaking. After all, there weren’t any big fish here; catching a Xiao Yu wouldn’t take more than two minutes and would avoid annoying anyone!
As he lifted the rod, it bent significantly with a whooshing sound as it cut through the water. Li Yunfei was momentarily stunned; this didn’t feel like a Xiao Yu at all!
He pulled sideways on the Rod and slowly raised it upright. The action looked quite impressive; he just didn’t know how big this fish was.
“Let me help you net it!” Li Yunfei said as he bent down to grab the Net beside Shi Tian.
“Take your time; this fish is pretty big. Let’s tire it out first before netting it; otherwise, it might slip off the hook!” Shi Tian quickly reminded him, worried that if Li Yunfei jumped into the river, it would scare away the fish and increase their chances of losing it.
Watching Shi Tian calmly play with the fish made Li Yunfei feel an inexplicable rush of excitement; he almost wanted to jump in himself and help Shi Tian tire it out for a while.
