Without any fireworks or flower baskets, after a busy half-day, the Xing Xing Fishing Tackle Shop finally opened its doors.
Opening this store was much more troublesome than the Sanya Store. Lu Ya led the team to deliver the goods, unpacking and taking away the Customized Rods, and their attitude did a complete 180. Initially, he had hoped they would help him set up the merchandise on the shelves, but with one rod in hand, the two of them made a quick getaway, even taking a set of Fishing Boxes and Nets with them, chatting and laughing as they headed off to fish.
After paying the moving fees and placing the rods on the shelves, he decided to cast a couple of lines before opening for business to see if there were any fish in the lake. If there were no fish, it would be pointless to have opened this store only to wait for it to close!
He tossed a handful of Bait into the water and picked up a One Meter Eight small rod. The Seven Star Float was useless; after fishing for a few months, he had only used the Qian Xing Piao once, catching Bai Tiao and Air Force!
Finding a Xiao Fu Diao, he set up his Line Setup and attached a Number Three Sleeve Hook to test the waters.
As soon as he cast his line, the Float bobbed up and immediately went down. He quickly lifted the rod, and a finger-length Little White Strip came up! Fish are not judged by size; as long as they bite, it's all good. Ideally, he'd like them to keep him busy!
After reeling in over ten Bai Tiao, he felt ready to officially open for business!
Shi Xiao Tian announced: "The Shui Shang Yu Ying Xingxing Chuidiao Wu is now open! Welcome all Fishing Buddies to come challenge us; there are plenty of great prizes waiting for you!"
He sent out a message in the Banna Group and called Last Rod Brother to help spread the word in the local Fishing Friends Group.
As for Throwing Rod Brother, that was a different story; they weren't that close, so asking him felt a bit awkward.
During the day at the water venue, there weren't many people—just some tourists sitting in small boats taking photos. It was only at night that things began to liven up.
Looking at the spacious shop, it was clear that this wasn't just an ordinary fishing tackle shop with only one entrance. Lu Ya and Air Force were unreliable; it was time to hire some staff! Twelve hours a day from noon to midnight—what would be their salary? Still four thousand?
Considering that expenses in Xishuangbanna were lower, he decided not to worry about food and accommodation. A four-thousand salary with Social Security should attract some applicants!
He planned to hire someone for a trial period of half a month; he didn’t have time for long stays here. It would be best to find someone sharp who could eventually take on the role of manager.
After posting the recruitment information, Lu Ya and Air Force returned. They weren’t thinking about Shi Tian; they were just about ready to set up their stall.
With their return, Shi Tian felt half liberated; at least they could help keep an eye on things while he focused on attracting customers!
Sitting at the entrance with a rod in hand, Shi Tian scanned for his first customer at Xingxing Fishing Gear Banna Store.
He dismissed any fishing novices; even if he could lure them into the store for an hour of fishing, they wouldn’t be willing to spend over a thousand dollars on a rod.
The rods in this store were not like those at Sanya that were sold at half price; lowering prices is easy but raising them is hard. Once prices go up—especially doubling—it would severely impact business.
He pulled out the fishing rod and watched the bustling tourists on the street. Fishermen were easy to spot; if someone was a fisherman, they were bound to be interested in the rod.
"Hey there, are you fishing? Your girlfriend looks exhausted! Have some sympathy for her!"
"Why not sit by the lake, do some fishing, take a few pictures, buy your girlfriend a coconut, and then continue your stroll? It’s only lively here at night; what’s there to see under this blazing sun?"
As soon as he spotted his target, Shi Tian immediately spoke up.
While he mentioned how the guy's girlfriend was too tired to walk, he could see the fatigue and helplessness in the handsome man's eyes.
It was a scorching day, and they had been shopping for at least two or three hours, with bags in hand. It was no wonder he looked worn out!
When Shi Tian spoke up, it was as if the handsome man had found a savior.
“How much is it for an hour? Do you provide rods?”
“It’s ten dollars an hour, and we provide fishing gear, bait, and a bottle of drink for free. If you catch ten fish, you get a reward of a hook; thirty fish earns you a line setup; catch ten fish and get a shovel! The more you catch, the more rewards you get.”
Offering fishing services might not be very profitable, but he was promoting the rods. Selling just one rod would earn him more than a whole day of fishing expenses.
“Do you return the fish?” Upon hearing Shi Tian's question, the handsome man was immediately intrigued.
For just ten dollars, he could be free from his girlfriend for an hour—what a deal!
“What a beautiful thought! No returns on the fish; either take them with you or release them. Look at your girlfriend; she seems so sweet and kind. You can let her release the fish after you catch them—how harmonious is that?”
Shi Tian's words left the handsome man speechless. What kind of harmony was that? If he didn’t catch any fish, he could save ten dollars!
“Ting Ting, we’ve been shopping all day; let’s take a break here. Just watch me make this boss cry!” Without waiting for his girlfriend to respond, Shi Tian skillfully completed the payment with the handsome man.
“Do you want to use a long rod or a short one? The short rod is one meter eight; the long rod is four and a half meters!” He led them into the shop and quickly went to find a rod for the handsome man.
He initially planned to use only the one-meter-eight short rod. Although it felt great in hand, it didn’t showcase performance as well as the four-and-a-half-meter rod did.
“One short and one long—what bait will you use?”
“We provide worms for free; other baits can be purchased at prices comparable to those outside.”
