I just saw a fish jump, and judging by that group of birds, it must be over three meters long. I reminded them to replace the leading hook! Keeping a safe distance from the school of fish, Shi Tian called out and began to slow down, drifting towards the designated fishing spot.
Over three meters, an adult Sailfish, weighing around two hundred pounds, with some possibly exceeding three hundred pounds! The problem is that this is a school of them; they must be similar in size. Otherwise, the smaller ones would just become prey for the larger ones!
"Don't worry, I've got my eyes on Lao Shi from the starboard high position!" After saying this, Shi Ye grabbed the rod and ran to the deck.
We need to prepare quickly. For such a large fish, we have to replace the entire leading hook. Otherwise, if we lose it due to a cut line, we'll regret it on the bridge!

Once we replaced the leading hook and connected the power supply, we began letting out line immediately. The method for catching Sailfish mainly involves trolling and cutting hooks. In Southeast Asia, there’s an interesting fishing method that doesn’t use hooks at all.
Fishermen tie a jig onto the main line and attach a length of nylon line behind it. The Sailfish’s mouth is very spiky; once it attacks the jig, it gets entangled in the nylon line and becomes increasingly trapped.
After it’s tangled up, fishermen don’t rush to reel in the fish. They tie a sealed empty bucket to the end of the main line and toss it into the sea—let it run as much as it wants.
When it tires out, they drive the boat over to retrieve the empty bucket and slowly reel in line. If it’s a big fish with energy left, they might let it run another few hundred meters!
After several rounds of this technique exhausts the Sailfish's strength, they can finally drag it up. This method is both safe and efficient but is limited to catching Sailfish; it doesn’t work well with other types of fish!
Having let out nearly two hundred meters of line, we were close to where the school of fish was located. I started teasing them by reeling in and letting out more line without any response.
"Jun Ge, I’ve prepared two rods for you—one for each of you. I’ll hand them over shortly." Keeping an eye on the school of fish, Shi Tian said to Air Force beside him.
"Really? You should have done that earlier!" Air Force replied casually while still fixated on the school of fish. He had heard Shi Ye mention that these fish were sizable—around two or three hundred pounds.
Two or three hundred pounds of big fish! And they are Sailfish; what kind of sensation would that be? Catching one could be bragged about for ten years!
Air Force One chimed in, and Shi Tian agreed wholeheartedly. With these rods available in Xisha, as long as they weren’t dealing with whales, one rod would be more than enough to handle them.
A regular Tuna rod would be sufficient, but a larger rod is just too tiring to use! Hmph! Who told you to come to Xisha without any notice? If you had informed me a few days in advance, I could have brought a better rod! I probably won’t be going out to sea again before the New Year. We can talk about it after the holiday!
Imitating Li Ziyu, Air Force let out a huff, and Shi Tian rolled his eyes.
Can you blame me? It was Ye Ge who suddenly decided to come to Xisha; it caught me off guard too! Air Force muttered under his breath while glancing sideways at Shi Ye.
As soon as he finished speaking, Shi Ye's rod trembled in his hand, the line screaming as it pulled taut, and Wheel roared as it spooled out line.
Is this a fish? Air Force turned to stare at Shi Ye's rod, finding it hard to believe; the speed of the line coming out was just too fast!
Stop with the questioning tone; the fish is already jumping out of the water! Staring at the surface of the water in the distance, Shi Tian was also taken aback. His earlier estimate had been too conservative; this fish must be over four meters long!
