Shi Tian stopped Old Zhou and pressed him down onto a chair.
"Uncle Zhou, why are you in such a hurry? We still have to stroll around the ancient town later! There's no rush for tonight's plans. I’ll catch a few fish over there and treat you to my One Pot, Three Provinces!"
"Uncle Zhou, we really hit it off; it feels like we’ve known each other forever! I wish I could stay longer, but I have to leave early tomorrow. Otherwise, I would definitely stay here for a few days and enjoy some drinks with you!"
Hearing that Shi Tian was leaving made Old Zhou even more anxious.
Shi Tian’s culinary skills were rare and exceptional; Old Zhou loved to eat and enjoyed cooking himself. After tasting Shi Tian's cooking, he wouldn’t dare show off his own mediocre skills!
The duck he raised himself, in Old Zhou's eyes, deserved to be cooked by Shi Tian. It would not go to waste.
"Make me a list of ingredients; I’ll go buy the seasonings! Tonight, I’ll have the duck ready at home waiting for you. You can’t bail on me!" He handed Shi Tian a piece of paper and a pen, staring intently at him as if afraid he might run away.
Shi Tian had mentioned earlier that he was missing two seasonings. Old Zhou firmly believed him; during the cooking earlier, there were several items he couldn’t find.
He needed to keep a close eye on Shi Tian while he cooked tonight, hoping to sneakily learn a trick or two to improve his own culinary skills!
After making the list for Old Zhou, they headed out together. They took a quick detour to warm up by the river and then strolled around the area, where they spotted Sun Lang wandering around the streets, occasionally snapping photos of houses with his phone—he was quite dedicated to his task.
"Sister Lang, don’t rush into looking for a place yet! You’ve been out for so long; aren’t you going to bring back some gifts for Xiao Xue?" Shi Tian greeted her with a slight smile.
He had just spoken with Li Ziyu, who still had an interest in Old Zhou’s house. Since Li Ziyu liked Old Zhou’s place, the next step was to figure out how to secure it!
Buying it was definitely out of the question; even renting would likely be quite challenging. Old Zhou’s house was by the river and close to the street; if it were available for rent, it would have been snatched up long ago. He still needed to spend some time drinking with Old Zhou tonight!
"You guys are here too? When did you arrive?" Sun Lang turned to look at Shi Tian, feeling somewhat speechless.
"If you’re coming too, why do you still need me around? If you’re catching an early flight back to Sanya, you’d probably be home by now."
Xiao Yu liked this place and wanted to come see it. "But this place is really nice—calm and peaceful; perfect for relaxation!" Holding Li Ziyu’s hand, they stood by the river as Shi Tian turned to Sun Lang and said, "I’ll treat you to dinner tonight—Kou Shui Ya. Did you see that house over there? Make sure to come by later!"
As they wandered through the narrow streets of the ancient town with Li Ziyu, Shi Tian glanced at the riverbank but noticed that Little Fisher hadn’t come fishing today.
It made sense; Little Fisher must have started school by now! If he were still fishing by the river, that would be troublesome.
After browsing until five o'clock, they returned to Old Zhou’s doorstep. At that moment, Old Zhou was lounging in a chair at the entrance, fixated on their car—if he could just keep an eye on it, that kid would show up sooner or later!
"Uncle Zhou, aren’t you cold? Be careful not to catch a cold!" As they passed by Old Zhou’s house, Shi Tian smiled slightly—Old Zhou was truly persistent when it came to food!
"Is it cold?"
"Not at all! Are you done shopping? Come inside and warm up with some tea!"
Seeing Shi Tian and the others return, Old Zhou quickly got up, pulling his hands out from where they were tucked together.
"The seasonings are back, and the ducks are all tied up. We caught three this time; it should be a feast tonight!"
"What time is it? No rush. I’ll go catch a few fish for dinner!" He opened the trunk, first taking out the sketchbook for Li Ziyu, then pulling out a six-foot rod. Grabbing a few boxes of earthworms he had just bought, Shi Tian headed down the steps towards the riverbank.
The weather was chilly, and with the water being cold, a short rod wouldn’t do. He planned to fish for Xiao Yu, but whether it would bite depended on its mood.
Finding a good spot, he mixed the earthworms with some dirt using an old method to create a bait hole. Setting up the fishing box, he adjusted the rod into position like a model, careful not to disturb Li Ziyu's sketching inspiration.
