Jian Qiang Ge's eggs weren't hurting, even though the fish was a bit large; it wasn't enough to make him feel any pain.
In the midst of fishing, he got a little carried away. As he shouted, the half-burnt cigarette butt fell from his mouth and dropped to the ground.
Before Shi Tian could finish speaking, Old Liu, who had been watching the commotion, sprang into action. He casually snatched Jian Qiang Ge's rod without any intention of helping him with the cigarette butt that had fallen on him.
With Old Liu taking his fishing rod and the cigarette butt burning through his clothes, Jian Qiang Ge instinctively let go and quickly reached for the cigarette. He tossed it aside and looked up at his rod, only to see Old Liu already reeling in the fish, moving further away from him. To make matters worse, Shou Sheng had somehow been taken from him by Old Liu as well.
Holding the dangling Shou Sheng in his hand and watching the rod in Old Liu's grasp, Jian Qiang Ge tried to release the brakes on his wheelchair and lean back, but it wouldn’t budge!
Turning to look, he saw stones on both sides of the wheels, and there were pits dug underneath; given his current state, getting out was quite difficult!
"Hey! I'm ready over here; just give me back my rod!" The helpless Jian Qiang Ge could only hope that Old Liu would show some mercy and return the rod to him so he could enjoy a bit of fishing.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! This fish is really strong!" As Old Liu maneuvered the fish while making sound effects, he was already four meters away from Jian Qiang Ge.
"This fish is powerful; you can't just drag it in! Come on over! I'll give you back the rod!"
Glancing at Jian Qiang Ge from the corner of his eye, Old Liu held onto the rod firmly, neither moving closer nor further away from him.
Being too far meant Jian Qiang Ge couldn't see well, and being too close without giving it back felt like bullying. This back-and-forth kept Jian Qiang Ge on edge; it was truly effective!
How strong could a fish really be? "Old Liu, don’t bully me! I’ll take over!" Seeing that it was about time, Old Wen moved closer to Old Liu and reached out to take the rod from him; he wanted a turn as well.
For a group of old men, a ten-kilogram fish was nothing much; there were plenty in Xinyue Lake. It wasn’t even worth mentioning as a thrill.
However, taking the rod from Jian Qiang Ge while watching him anxiously scratch his head was where the real fun lay!
It wasn't really bullying Jian Qiang Ge; with only one hand able to move, he couldn't possibly reel in that fish himself. With the rod in their hands, they planned to let the fish tire itself out before handing it back to Jian Qiang Ge for just a few seconds of excitement!
Seeing Old Wen heroically take over the rod gave Jian Qiang Ge a glimmer of hope!
"Thank you so much! When I'm better, I'll treat you to a meal!"
Before Jian Qiang Ge could finish speaking, Old Wen pushed the rod forward and gritted his teeth: "This fish is really strong! It's a big one and still fighting; I can’t pull it in just yet!"
Old Wen loosened the line slightly but managed to stabilize it again before slowly applying pressure once more, causing Jian Qiang Ge’s heart to race wildly!
"How pathetic! Two grown men acting like children!" he muttered quietly about the two old men. Meanwhile, Old Kong set down his fishing box beside Shi Tian and cast his line with two pieces of carp bait; with all this commotion from the big fish, there wouldn’t be any bites for a while.
After about ten minutes of heart-pounding ups and downs for Jian Qiang Ge, Old Wen finally managed to tire out the fish on the line and was getting closer to him.
"Here, hold the rod. When the fish is reeled in, we'll help you catch it!" As the rod was placed into Jian Qiang Ge's hands, Old Wen spoke up, earning a heartfelt thank you from Jian Qiang Ge.
