After four hours, watching the Jumping Fish on the tidal flats, Shi Tian changed into his gear and began fishing for Jumping Fish. Last night, he had specially polished the four-pronged Hook he bought from the farm shop; with a sharper Hook, his chances of success today would surely be higher!
Once he was geared up, Kang Ziyu, who was busy recording videos with the Hermit Sage, urged the hidden master to continue refining his case. She needed to capture some footage of Shi Tian fishing for Jumping Fish. They were using fishing as an excuse to go to the sea, and some people had already jokingly said they were not being serious about their work. After all, fishing for Jumping Fish involved using a Rod and a Hook, so it was hard to argue that they were slacking off!
As one Jumping Fish after another came up, Shi Tian became increasingly skilled; this was certainly much easier than digging for Wang Chao. By dusk, they packed up their things. He handed a cigarette to the old man, wondering how his draft was coming along.
"Aren't you supposed to be quitting?" he asked as the old man took the cigarette, clearly a bit irritable. It seemed that his draft wasn’t going well.
"Quit? I’m back at it again," the old man replied. Lighting up a cigarette, Shi Tian went over to the group of uncles who were digging for Wang Chao, wanting to buy some from them before they headed home.
"Hey, uncles, are you selling your Wang Chao? Can I buy thirty-one of them? I want to take them home for my elders to try."
Seeing how skilled they were, it was clear they did this professionally and dug them up just to sell. The price he offered was about one and a half times higher than the market rate, which would definitely be more cost-effective than sending them to restaurants.
"You’ve been digging all afternoon; how many did you get? You know it’s not easy work!" One uncle remarked when he heard that Shi Tian wanted to take some home for his elders. It seemed like his offer of twenty didn’t seem sincere enough.
Since Shi Tian was brought by the village chief, he understood that the chief had a protective nature towards villagers; whether they were relatives or friends, they were not as close as those from the village. After digging all afternoon and still needing to buy from them meant he probably hadn’t caught many.
Looking at Shi Tian’s outfit and his beautiful girlfriend by his side, it was evident that he wasn't short on money. If they didn’t take advantage of such a good catch, the village chief would likely scold them for being foolish!
Not having caught much, he managed only around forty or so. Glancing at his Fishing Box, he turned to the uncles and said with a scratch of his nose, "I don’t need too many; just twenty or thirty will do. Which of you can sell me some?"
"Trying to raise prices? That’s a seller's market," one uncle replied. "When roles are reversed and supply exceeds demand, let’s see who tries to raise prices!"
"If none of you are selling, that’s fine too; what I have is enough. I’ll just intercept some for the old man’s Yun Wan'er!"
Upon hearing that Shi Tian only wanted twenty or thirty, one uncle immediately spoke up: "I didn’t dig much today either—only thirty. If you want them all, I’ll sell them to you!"
Without hesitation, Shi Tian placed his Fish Bucket in front of that uncle and started putting each individual Wang Chao into it while scanning for payment based on quantity. With these secured, it didn’t matter if the other two uncles decided to sell or not.
After one uncle finished selling, another placed his bucket in front of Shi Tian: "Do you want more? If so, I can help you pick some out!"
The Wang Chao they dug up were sent directly to restaurants and sold by piece with specific standards; whether or not they picked through them didn’t really matter.
"That’s quite a lot! At least ten here!" After glancing at the uncle’s bucket, Shi Tian casually remarked without waiting for an answer and began picking out each individual piece for his Fish Bucket. He could definitely handle this amount of Wang Chao.
After counting the quantities and making the payment, Shi Tian observed the hesitant expression on the face of the uncle who wanted to raise the price. He quickly pulled up the Fish Bucket, feeling that this was already enough.
The two uncles waved goodbye and took the Fish Bucket over to the old man, who was still pondering over advertising slogans. Calling out to Kang Ziyu, he positioned himself against the setting sun for a close-up shot, taking out a Wang Chao and a Jumping Fish from the Fish Bucket, casually explaining a few details.
As the drone took off, it captured a panoramic view, flying over the tidal flats and rocks before heading back to add some audio. The promotional video was essentially recorded.
"Just one line: Welcome to our village! I’ll teach you how to dig for Wang Chao and catch Jumping Fish, and I can also take you to the rocks to fish for Large Yellow Croaker!"
For advertising slogans, simplicity is key; the clearer it is, the better it works. Piling on elaborate phrases might confuse people!
"Is that all? Isn’t it a bit short? We have so many delicious foods and fun activities in our village; we should at least introduce them!" Hearing Shi Tian’s proposed slogan, the old man shook his head decisively in refusal.
In his view, they needed to introduce not just activities but also food, accommodation, customs—everything! He even contemplated whether they should plant some cacti for decoration.
Attracting tourists is about quality over quantity; once people arrive, they can learn more. After packing away the drone, he urged the old man to finish his lines. They recorded several takes and had him demonstrate catching Wang Chao a few times for additional footage. They would edit it together later!
If it turned out well, they could produce a special episode focused on coastal activities, emphasizing tips to avoid pitfalls. Otherwise, given the personalities of those uncles earlier, they might ruin their reputation in no time!
Once all the material was recorded, Kang Ziyu drove while Shi Tian lounged in the passenger seat, not wanting to move an inch. By the time they reached Suzhou, it was already deep into the night. Kang Ziyu woke him up as they checked into a hotel. They decided not to knock on any doors tonight and would handle everything tomorrow.
The boats were ready and needed to be shipped out. The old man had delivered ten boats at once, which had left all three old men quite anxious; they had called Shi Ye several times.
Since the old man’s boats were delivered in one go, they decided to include Kong Yunfei's as well! These boats were fast; at full speed, they could reach sixty knots—comparable to private yachts.
Ideally, they would have fueled them up and sent them directly to Zhoushan or Lianyungang for Kong Yunfei’s crew to pick up. However, Shi Ye didn’t have enough yacht drivers available; instead, they had to load them into containers one by one and tow them to Xiangshan for pickup.
The reason they didn’t deliver directly to Xiamen was mainly because the old man still needed to arrange for someone to dismantle the boats. Even Kong Yunfei's vessels couldn’t escape that fate.
Upon receiving news of the shipment, the old men were delighted. They had almost forgotten who Shi Tian was by now. They hurriedly finalized their boat transactions and removed the Router before stuffing it into Da Hei Yu's belly. Those Da Hei Yu had been waiting at the dock for nearly half a month just for that Router!
