Selling a house might sound exaggerated, but the upstairs neighbor has truly made Old Zhang's life miserable. Every night, they blast music so loudly that it keeps everyone awake; they don’t sleep and won’t let anyone else sleep either, causing endless suffering for those living above and below.
Old Zhang has gone upstairs to confront them a few times, but each time he was met with insults. It’s pointless to reason with someone like that; even if you gave them a soundproof device, it wouldn’t help. After all, you’ve been around long enough to know that some people just can’t be reasoned with. Listening to Old Zhang rant, Yi Laotou smirked, thinking that the best way to deal with such individuals is to return their behavior in kind.
With unreasonable people, reasoning doesn’t work. Even if you call the police, it won’t change anything; sometimes you have to resort to underhanded tactics. However, ordinary tricks like blocking their door or throwing trash at them wouldn’t have much effect and might even provoke them further. What’s needed are more impactful measures.
The problem is that after a lifetime of reasoning, Yi Laotou had never learned any underhanded tactics! His parents hadn’t taught him that either! He wished he could think of something more damaging than just cursing at them.
How could he not be reasonable? Should he beat them up? He wouldn’t dare; after finally getting his life back on track, he didn’t want to go back to square one.
There were plenty of tricks available; there are thirty-six stratagems after all, and a little creativity could go a long way. Just as Rod suggested something, Yi Laotou casually mentioned tossing a small fishing lure into the sea while dangling a piece of bait.
Old Zhang was practically stretching his neck like a giraffe, but Yi Laotou didn’t relent.
“Uncle Zhang, my master wants to eat some crayfish.” Seeing Old Zhang scratching his head in confusion, Shi Tian’s eyes lit up with an idea: first, let’s get some crayfish from Old Zhang before anything else.
“Absolutely! Let’s arrange it right now! What’s a meal of crayfish compared to venting our frustrations?”
However, as soon as Old Zhang opened his mouth, Yi Laotou lost interest.
“Can’t you have some dignity? You’re an adult going to mooch off Uncle Zhang for crayfish?”
“Why go beg Old Zhang for crayfish when you can just buy some and cook them yourself? They’d definitely taste better than what Old Zhang serves!”
“Master, I’m not mooching off him! I’m conducting an inspection—checking if the food street’s offerings have declined!” This was perfect; it would prepare Uncle Zhang for the impending feast while ensuring Yi Laotou didn’t ruin everything.
Watching the two bicker back and forth, Old Zhang felt overwhelmed. “Can someone please rescue me? I’m still stuck in this predicament!”
Finally, after their banter ended, Old Zhang hurriedly sought advice from Shi Tian. Yi Laotou was too high-profile for this minor issue; it wasn’t worth his effort.
After imparting a couple of strategies to Old Zhang and sending him on his way, Shi Tian continued his verbal sparring with Yi Laotou.
“Xiao Tian, can you check if this new sun-protective clothing I bought is genuine?” As he opened the fishing box, Yi Laotou pulled out a Star Brand Army military uniform and tossed it into Shi Tian's arms before sitting back down at the fishing spot.
“Is it genuine? Is there even any doubt? This stuff is only sold at Star Brand Fishing Gear Store and online; nowhere else carries it. The design was patented with help from the Air Force.”
Staying true to his own Fishing Tackle Shop, Yi Laotou wouldn’t be buying from some random site! Besides, they didn’t even sell this kind of sun-protective clothing there.
However, when Yi Laotou spoke up, Shi Tian became alert. As he shook out the sun-protective clothing, Shi Tian’s eyelids twitched at the sight of several small fish on his shoulder. “What does this mean? Two or three?” Yi Laotou wasn’t greedy; he had downgraded—was he going grassroots?
“Master, this is illegal modification!” He took off his own sun-protective gear and tossed it over to Yi Laotou while putting on the one he received—it fit surprisingly well.
It seems that Yi Laotou is feeling a sense of crisis, but it’s too late now; the four old men have already been sidelined by Sun Lang. It appears that Sun Lang is quite efficient.
The fish on my shoulder was sewn on by Xiao Yu, so whether it's legal or not, you can discuss it with Xiao Yu! I’m now a member of Diao Jiao Tuna, so having three stitches of Xiao Jinqiang is just right, isn’t it?
If I had taught Diao Jiao well, it wouldn’t have been a problem, but Old Kong and the others held me back, causing me to lose military power. Three stitches are too many; one would suffice. It’s better not to sew random things on my shoulder; sewing it on my chest would be more reliable.
Master, don’t let Old Liu Zhang lead you astray; he’s used to being reckless. I’ll get you a nice stitch on your chest later.
Looking at those three stitches on my shoulder, Shi Tian immediately recognized that this was Old Liu's idea. No one else could come up with such a suggestion.
I think so too; being too ostentatious isn’t good! But Old Kong and Old Wen insist on supporting it. After muttering this, he realized that this tactic wouldn’t work on Shi Tian; he could see right through it.
Master, I’ve already sent Sun Lang to bring the Mini Light Boat back. Once the boat returns, we can take the Star Brand Army to Xisha for a few days of fun. Yi Laotou hasn’t been to Xisha; let’s take him along to enjoy himself and support the Soy Sauce Plan later.
That sounds good; I’ll cover the Fuel Costs. Just don’t bring Old Kong and the others. Upon hearing about going to Xisha, Yi Laotou’s eyes lit up.
We won’t bring them; they’re one level below you, which is perfect for keeping them in check!
After returning from Shi Tian’s place, Old Zhang began formulating an action plan. The Divide and Conquer Strategy is easy enough; I can handle it alone. However, with three people involved, we’ll need cooperation from those upstairs.
At this hour, there’s only a woman at home upstairs, so I’ll leave a pair of sneakers at her door.
Just relying on this trick isn’t enough; I still need to wait downstairs.
Xiao Wu, can you young people be a bit more restrained? It’s one thing to keep people awake at night, but making such a racket during the day? Aren’t you afraid of exhausting yourselves?
