Shi Tian wanted to take Hong Shun out; he needed to cultivate someone like him. Although Hong Shun was still young, he was trustworthy and clever. With such a person by his side, once he grew up, things would be much easier for Shi Tian.
"I can't go to the seaside right now, so I can only fish in the river. The fish here, like the Jiao Jiao Fish, are already quite expensive." After flipping through Shi Tian's photo album, Hong Shun returned the phone to him. There was a hint of sadness in his words, but his tone held no trace of disappointment.
This kid had quite an ambition. Even though he couldn't go to the seaside now, he would surely have the ability to do so in the future.
"I'm off to fish now. I told you before that the Star Brand Fishing Rod is the best fishing rod; today, let’s give it a try!" After finishing a cup of tea, Shi Tian stood up, grabbed his gear, and headed straight for the riverbank across from him.
He hadn't specifically prepared a rod for Hong Shun because if he wanted to experience the best rod, it had to be a Customized Rod. A set of Customized Rods wasn't a big deal, but preparing a separate one just for him felt excessive.
It was fine for him to try it out; experiencing it would motivate him to work harder.
Shi Tian sat on the Fishing Box and set up a Fishing Chair for Hong Shun. With each of them wearing a straw hat, they sat by the riverbank together.
"Do you want to see the ocean? Go fishing at sea?" Lighting a cigarette, Shi Tian turned to Hong Shun and asked.
At fifteen years old, Hong Shun was a bit short for his age. Taking him out during summer vacation would let him see the sea and give him something to strive for in the future instead of just staring at the few Yellow Catfish in the river all day.
"I'm not going; I have to work. I told Uncle Zhou I’d help him out. Not only can I learn cooking skills, but I’ll also earn three thousand yuan a month." Shi Tian spoke up, but Hong Shun immediately rejected without any hesitation.
Three thousand yuan a month meant that over summer vacation, he could earn quite a bit. With that money, half a year’s living expenses would be covered.
Old Zhou was quite generous, offering Hong Shun three thousand yuan in wages. Normally, for such work, getting two thousand yuan a month would be considered good since Hong Shun was still young and hadn’t even started middle school yet.
This was also normal; Li Ziyu liked Cha Dong, and there were many who appreciated this warmth of human connection! Without that warmth, it would be hard for Hong Shun to remain steadfast as he was now.
"What cooking skills are you going to learn from Old Zhou? I taught him everything he knows." After repeating instructions for so long, all he managed to learn were some basics.
Shi Tian glanced at Hong Shun and remarked sarcastically about Old Zhou: "Working for Old Zhou has no future; his shop will look the same twenty years from now. If you want to work, come work for me instead!"
"Work for you? How much will you pay me?" As he lifted his rod, a Bighead Carp came up. Hong Shun stared in surprise at his rod; now he was starting to believe Shi Tian's words that the Star Brand Fishing Rod was indeed the best fishing rod in existence—at least among those he had encountered.
However, he had only used one type of fishing rod before—the one Shi Tian had lent him—and this rod was far superior in every way!
"No salary; I’ll cover your food and lodging and pay your travel expenses." With a smirk on his face, Shi Tian said this without batting an eye.
"No salary? That works! I'm in! When do I start?" As he dragged the fish ashore, Hong Shun rolled up his pants and prepared to pull it in.
"Just lift it right up; don’t worry about this rod being thin—it’s sturdy enough! You can pull up fish twice this size with it." Shi Tian reminded Hong Shun with some curiosity.
"Why would I work for you without getting paid?"
