Revenge? Using cheating to get back at cheating?
"Get away from him!"
Before I could react, Xu Jiaying pushed me aside, her usually delicate face twisted in rage.
Seeing that a mere suggestion had left her utterly devastated filled me with a strange sense of satisfaction. Yet, when I caught Gu Yuan's eyes—emotionless and indifferent—I felt an overwhelming sense of emptiness.
I took a few steps back and glanced at the person in the gift box, my expression flat. "I'm not a stepping stone for him to cheat," I shifted my gaze to Gu Yuan, "and I'm not your tool for getting back at your girlfriend."
With that, I turned to leave, only to be blocked by Xu Jiaying once more.
"Stop! You did this on purpose! Why won’t you help me? Why do you have to ruin me? What have I ever done to you? If you just spoke up, he would believe you!"
Her hair was a mess, tears streaking her face as she suddenly reached out and viciously grabbed my neck, her perfectly manicured nails digging into my skin.
"What I want, you will never get!"
Though she was thinner than me, her grip felt like iron, unyielding. I struggled desperately, the intense sensation of suffocation making me dizzy, yet I remained powerless.
Instinctively, I looked around for help but was met with indifferent faces that seemed unconcerned with my plight. Xu Jiaying's fingers were burning hot, coiling around me like a fiery serpent. I lost track of time; perhaps only a few minutes passed before the heat began to fade and my consciousness blurred…
…
"This necklace suits you so well; your boyfriend has great taste!"
When I regained consciousness, I found myself back in the dormitory. I was sitting in front of the mirror while Xu Jiaying stood behind me, lowering her head with a smile as she fastened a necklace around my neck.
Had I… been reborn?
My neck felt smooth and unmarked, showing no signs of having been choked. The necklace worth thirteen thousand was now resting against my skin, its cold touch sending a shiver down my spine.
"Isn't this from him... for you?" I stammered, struggling to distinguish whether this was a dream or reality.
Xu Jiaying paused for a moment before bursting into laughter.
"I was just messing with you! What’s wrong? Are you jealous? This is your boyfriend's Qixi Gift for you; it has nothing to do with me!"
"And by the way, Yiyi, happy Qixi! Wishing you a hundred years of harmony!"
She spoke her blessings, her eyes meeting mine in the mirror. The corners of her mouth curled up, yet her eyes held a faint, unreadable emotion.
"Stop dawdling, Su Yi! Your dog has been waiting for you downstairs for ages!" My roommate urged me as I sat there motionless.
I instinctively stood up, but my steps grew increasingly hesitant.
As I stepped out of the dormitory, I glanced back. The three of them were staring at me intently; upon seeing me turn around, they all smiled in unison.
Their expressions were identical, as if they were watching me walk toward a grand grave.
Something felt off, yet I couldn't pinpoint what it was.
In the cafeteria, I looked at the man who had entangled himself in my life for several lifetimes, my heart a mix of emotions.
I took off the expensive necklace around my neck and placed it on the table, getting straight to the point.
"He Yang, I know you like Xu Jiaying and that being with me is just a way to get closer to her. You don't need to pretend anymore; I'm not going to get involved in your game. Let's break up!"
He Yang was taken aback for a moment before breaking into a smile.
"I admit, Xu Jiaying is beautiful and has a great figure; it's natural to be attracted to her," he said.
"But Yiyi, you must understand that throughout life, one can be attracted many times, but there are very few people we truly love. I have no connection with Xu Jiaying, and nothing will happen between us in the future. Don't worry; I will strive to love only you for the rest of my life!"
