"Big Leader wants to see me?"
Chen Xuan was taken aback.
Zhang Gaoshan was dumbfounded.
Zhang Gaofeng looked completely bewildered.
Even Dong Li turned sharply to look at Chen Xuan, his face filled with disbelief.
A big shot wanted to see Chen Xuan?
To meet with someone running a farm?
Why?
Everyone present couldn't believe what they had just heard. To be referred to as "Big Leader" by the Old Village Chief meant that this person must hold a significant position. Was it someone from the county? Or perhaps from the city?
Zhang Gaoshan's expression changed slightly. He cast a flickering glance at Chen Xuan, his brows furrowed, lost in thought.
Chen Xuan was still in a daze and exclaimed, "Village Chief, what did you just say?"
"I said a Big Leader has come and specifically wants to see you. Come on, let's go!" The Old Village Chief wasted no time and pulled Chen Xuan along toward his home.
Throughout the entire exchange, the Old Village Chief didn't spare a glance at Zhang Gaoshan and his son, behaving as if they were two completely different people from the one who had just been so warmly cordial.
As Chen Xuan moved further away, Zhang Gaoshan finally snapped back to reality.
He gritted his teeth and said reluctantly, "Let's follow them and see what's going on. I know the Big Leader from Jianghe City; it would be good to greet him."
With that, Zhang Gaoshan signaled to Zhang Feng with a glance.
Zhang Feng understood immediately; he knew his father wanted him to tag along to get acquainted, which would greatly benefit his future career.
After a moment's thought, Zhang Feng silently nodded in agreement with his father's plan.
Soon enough, Zhang Gaoshan and Zhang Feng hurriedly followed behind.
At the Village Chief's home, the conditions were quite good; it was a three-story villa, and at that moment, a lavish dinner was already prepared in the living room on the first floor.
This was prepared for Zhang Gaoshan and his son. At this moment, however, it was all for the sudden arrival of the Big Leader. The Old Village Chief hurriedly pulled Chen Xuan along, striding into the living room. Although it was his own home, the Old Village Chief appeared quite uneasy. Clearly, the leader inside held a significant position.
In contrast, Chen Xuan did not share the Old Village Chief's anxiety; he remained quite composed. As they entered the living room, a couple caught Chen Xuan's eye. The woman exuded charm, while the man radiated a powerful aura.
"Leader, Chen Xuan has arrived," the Old Village Chief said with a chuckle, stepping aside and gesturing towards Chen Xuan.
Xu Changqing stood up with a smile, looking at Chen Xuan with a glimmer of surprise in his eyes. The young man seemed quite ordinary, dressed in work clothes. Yet this seemingly unremarkable young man had produced such outstanding agricultural products like the Silver Egg. How had he managed to do that?
Filled with curiosity, Xu Changqing extended his hand with a smile. "You must be Chen Xuan?"
"That's me," Chen Xuan replied as he shook hands.
Xu Changqing smiled approvingly. "Young man, I came here specifically for you. I've tasted your eggs, and they were quite delicious."
"Thank you for the compliment, Leader," Chen Xuan said humbly, finally realizing why these people had sought him out. It turned out they were here for the eggs. However, he couldn't help but wonder what business this Big Leader had with him.
As Chen Xuan pondered this, the Old Village Chief stood frozen for a moment. Eggs? What eggs? A leader of such stature came to find Chen Xuan just for a single egg?
The Old Village Chief's eyes flickered for a moment, but he didn't think much of it. He smiled and invited everyone to take a seat.
The table was filled with dishes, yet only four people were seated, making it feel somewhat empty. However, the thoughts of the four at the table were far from the food.
After casually eating a few bites, Xu Changqing smiled and said, "Young man, let me introduce myself. I am Xu Changqing, the Director of the Food Safety Supervision Bureau in Jianghe City. This is my wife, Wang Man, a nutrition expert."
The mention of the Food Safety Supervision Bureau caught Chen Xuan by surprise. He hadn't expected that the "Big Leader" spoken of by the Old Village Chief was actually a bureau director.
"Hello," Wang Man greeted with a smile.
