Ye Xiao had been here for several days, but Chen Xuan had never noticed anything unusual about him. The sky was devoid of people, yet Ye Xiao appeared lively and alert around eleven or twelve at night. If Chen Xuan hadn’t known he was a demon, he might have thought Ye Xiao was just another young man who stayed up late.
“Exactly! That’s him!” Jin Xiong said as he patted Ye Xiao on the shoulder, his tone serious. “Don’t underestimate Ye Xiao. He was my top general back in the day. Although his powers are currently sealed, I believe he can still be of help to you.”
“Oh?” Chen Xuan looked at Ye Xiao for the first time with genuine interest. He pondered for a moment before finally nodding. “Alright, I’ll take him with me this time.”
“Thank you, my lord,” Ye Xiao replied.
Jin Xiong didn’t waste any more words; he gave Ye Xiao’s shoulder a firm pat and turned back toward the Cattle Shed.
Chen Xuan took Ye Xiao with him and drove to Jianghe City, where they booked the next available flight. This time, they were heading to the northern part of Xia Country, to the airport.
It was Ye Xiao’s first time seeing such a massive airplane, and he stared in awe, his eyes wide. “What an enormous piece of metal! It can actually fly? This world is truly terrifying!”
Suddenly shifting his gaze, Ye Xiao looked longingly out the window and muttered to himself, “I rushed out so quickly that Jin Xiong didn’t even tell me if I can feed on blood outside.” He glanced around mysteriously and noticed that no one was paying attention to him.
He muttered softly, "Our Cattle Fly Demon clan has secret methods to break seals by consuming blood. If Jin Xiong doesn't mind, heh heh, I just need to drain the blood of a million beings to restore my powers. By then, I can bring Jin Xiong back to the Demon Realm."
Thinking of this, Ye Xiao chuckled, and his dry eyes suddenly sparkled with a fierce light.
The plane took off quickly, and after a few hours, they arrived in the northern part of Xia Country.
Chen Xuan stepped out of the airport, where Zhang Hou had been waiting for a long time. Upon seeing Chen Xuan, he joyfully waved his arms.
"Brother!"
"Zhang Hou!" Chen Xuan strode over with Ye Xiao in tow and gave Zhang Hou a hearty hug. "Why are you the one picking me up this time?"
"Heh heh, everyone else has something going on; I'm the most free," Zhang Hou replied with an embarrassed smile as he took Chen Xuan's bag and glanced at Ye Xiao behind him.
"This is..."
"Oh, he's a friend of mine. He came to broaden his horizons this time," Chen Xuan introduced Ye Xiao's identity but hesitated to mention that Ye Xiao was there to help him, fearing that he might not be able to assist when it mattered most and disappoint others.
After some pleasantries, Zhang Hou led Chen Xuan out towards the outskirts.
On the way, Ye Xiao casually tilted his head and fell asleep soundly.
Zhang Hou was momentarily taken aback, thinking to himself, wasn't this person here to gain some experience? How could he fall asleep as soon as he got in the car?
He glanced over at Chen Xuan, who wore a serious expression and avoided eye contact.
Oh, Zhang Hou suddenly realized. He felt he understood now. This person was definitely not here to learn; he was just here to pass the time! It must be that his senior brother had some kind of obligation he couldn't refuse, which is why he brought him along.
With this thought, Zhang Hou felt he had completely seen through the situation. He disdainfully shot a glance at the gaunt Ye Xiao, sneered, and turned back to chat with Chen Xuan.
As they chatted away, it wasn't long before they arrived at the Experimental Base.
