A Space-Time Rift? A parallel world? Lin Yuan felt his head buzzing, as if a hundred bees were stinging him. Nan Gong Xuan's thought process was indeed peculiar; instead of enjoying a good life cultivating, he had to stir up these earth-shattering troubles. Lin Yuan even began to suspect that Nan Gong Xuan had secretly watched hundreds of sci-fi disaster films and drawn "inspiration" from them.
"Is he really planning to destroy the world and then cosplay as Thanos on the ruins, snapping his fingers?" Zhou Haoran's eyes widened in disbelief as he absentmindedly ran his fingers through his newly permed hair, trying to calm himself down. "This is scarier than the 'Gazing at the Stars' pie my mom makes. At least that pie can be salvaged after eating; if this goes wrong, we'll all have to line up in the underworld to report in. I bet even King Yan will have to work overtime!"
Su Jiu'er’s expression was grave as the compass in her hand buzzed ominously, its needle spinning wildly like a drunken man, seemingly heralding the apocalypse. "Parallel worlds are not fictional; ancient texts have long recorded them. It is said that in ancient times, some people accidentally entered a Space-Time Rift and were never heard from again." She took a deep breath, striving to maintain her composure. As the team's strategist, she couldn't afford to lose her cool. "I just didn't expect Nan Gong Xuan to actually find a way to open a portal. This is no joke; if the Space-Time Rift really opens, the consequences would be unimaginable. Not only would our world be affected, but the parallel worlds might also be impacted. If both worlds go down together, we would be in serious trouble!"
"Then what are we waiting for? We need to stop him now!" Zhou Haoran exclaimed, pacing anxiously like an ant on a hot pan. "If we wait any longer, it will be too late! We'll all turn into cosmic dust without even leaving behind complete corpses!"
"Calm down and analyze the situation first," Lin Yuan said, rubbing his temples to keep himself alert. At this critical moment, he had to take charge. "Li Honghe, can you pinpoint Nan Gong Xuan's experimental location? I need it down to the exact address!"
"I can do that; I've already locked onto his position. He's conducting experiments at a secret base in the suburbs, codenamed 'Hive,'" Li Honghe's voice crackled through the communicator with a hint of electronic distortion. "I've sent you the coordinates, blueprints of the base, and even the cafeteria menu. Just a friendly reminder: their braised pork is quite good, but unfortunately, you won't get a chance to try it."
"Braised pork? What a shame!" Zhou Haoran instinctively patted his stomach with a look of regret.
Lin Yuan facepalmed in exasperation; at a time like this, Zhou Haoran was still thinking about food! "Alright, let's move out immediately! Jiu'er, you handle navigation; Hao Ran, prepare your Invincible Fire Wheel. We might be facing a fierce battle this time! Everyone stay sharp and don't trip over yourselves!"
"Got it!" Su Jiu'er and Zhou Haoran replied in unison, their eyes shining with determination.
Taking a deep breath, Lin Yuan activated the Time Manipulator. A strange wave of energy radiated from him, causing the surrounding air to shimmer slightly. "Time, accelerate!" he murmured, and instantly the scenery around them blurred as Squad members sped up dramatically, racing towards their destination like streaks of light, leaving behind only afterimages.
Inside the secret base "Hive," Nan Gong Xuan stood before a massive control console, intently operating various instruments with fingers flying over the keyboard as if playing a frenzied symphony. Before him hovered an energy sphere pulsating with eerie blue light, emanating an unsettling energy wave as if it were a supernova ready to explode at any moment.
"Report! Lin Yuan and Squad are rapidly approaching the base! Estimated arrival in three minutes!" A man in black rushed in with an anxious tone.
"Hmph, just in time!" Nan Gong Xuan smirked, a glint of madness flickering in his eyes. "I want to see how they plan to stop me! I've laid out a net of traps, just waiting for them to walk right in!" He pressed a red button, and the energy fluctuations of the energy sphere intensified dramatically. The surrounding space began to twist and warp, and a crack resembling a black hole slowly appeared, emitting a chilling hissing sound as if whispers from hell.
"The Space-Time Rift has begun to form; the gateway to the parallel world is about to open!" Nan Gong Xuan's eyes sparkled with fervor, as if he could already envision himself ruling over a new world. "I will become the master of this new realm! Hahahaha!"
When Lin Yuan and his squad arrived at the outskirts of the base, they were greeted by a shocking sight. The black hole-like crack was expanding in the air, distorting everything around it. Trees twisted as if being kneaded by an invisible hand, and cracks appeared on the ground, as if the apocalypse was imminent.
"Wow! This is too exaggerated!" Zhou Haoran exclaimed, nearly dropping his jaw to the ground. "Is Nan Gong Xuan insane? If this goes wrong, we’ll all be buried with him! I haven't even married yet!"
"Stop wasting time; we need to act quickly!" Lin Yuan's expression turned serious. He knew time was of the essence, and they had to stop Nan Gong Xuan before it was too late.
"Time Ripple, activate!" Lin Yuan unleashed a new ability of the Time Manipulator, causing the surrounding space-time to twist and ripple like waves on water, disrupting Nan Gong Xuan's experimental equipment. The lights in the base began to flicker erratically, alarms blared from the instruments, and chaos engulfed the entire facility.
"What’s happening?" Nan Gong Xuan's expression changed as he realized his control was being interfered with; beads of sweat formed on his forehead. "Damn it! It's Lin Yuan! He can actually disrupt my experiment! This kid just won't quit!"
"Now's our chance!" Lin Yuan shouted, a glimmer of determination flashing in his eyes. "Hao Ran, cover me!"
"Invincible Fire Wheel, activate!" Zhou Haoran summoned his defensive artifact once more. A massive golden wheel appeared around Lin Yuan, enveloping him in an impenetrable barrier that shimmered with golden light, radiating an aura as if a celestial being had descended.
With immense pressure bearing down on him, Lin Yuan charged toward the control console. He knew that only by destroying it could he completely halt Nan Gong Xuan's reckless experiment. Each step felt like he was carrying an enormous weight, but his gaze remained resolute without a hint of hesitation.
Just then, a figure suddenly appeared before Lin Yuan, blocking his path.
"Think you can stop me? Not so easily!" Han Lingyun sneered, cold light flashing in her eyes.
