Xu Li nodded in satisfaction. "Make the two bedrooms cozy with the furniture arranged nicely. One for the elderly and one for the little girl. If I'm satisfied with the final inspection, I'll give you a red envelope."
"Alright, I'll get my company to draft a plan for you right away."
The manager beamed and quickly noted down the address before happily heading downstairs. Xu Li looked at the empty old house, feeling a pang of sadness as she closed the door behind her and left for the hotel.
Just as she reached the hotel lobby, she received a call from Xu Haigui. "I've transferred the money to you. Just keep an eye on your spending from now on."
"Okay."
She put her phone away and turned to catch a taxi to the bank. Staring at the long string of zeros on her account balance, she fell silent for a moment before opening a new savings account. She deposited thirty million into a high-interest fixed deposit and converted the rest into a regular account for easy access.
It was already past two in the afternoon when she returned to the hotel. The sisters were watching an animated show in Mandarin that they couldn't quite understand, giggling occasionally. Natasha sat by the door, where she could see Xu Li as soon as she entered.
"Mom, I'm back."
"Did you take care of everything?"
"Yes." Xu Li waved the document folder in her hand. "I'm also moving into the old house. He transferred me a large sum of money, which I've put into savings for later use with the kids."
"Have you called him?"
Xu Li opened her mouth but ultimately shook her head. Natasha pulled her closer. "Regardless of everything, he has provided for your food, clothing, and education. You should at least call him 'Dad.' Has your stepmother ever mistreated you?"

"When she hits or scolds you, it's usually because you've done something wrong. A stepmother who does your laundry and cooks for you without hitting or scolding is lucky for you."
Natasha gently patted Xu Li's head. "There are many wicked stepmothers in this world, but you've been fortunate. Why do you think your father sent you to Irkutsk?"
Her child said that his mother had died long ago and that his mother was not really his mom; he even said my mom was dead.
Thinking back to how that little brat had smugly pointed at him made Xu Li clench his fists involuntarily. "So I hit him and ended up sending him to the hospital. I even got into a fight with them both. They were going to send me to boarding school, but I didn't want to stay here, so they sent me abroad instead; Irkutsk was his choice."
In this case, it was wrong on your part. You could have slapped him, but you shouldn't have beaten him into the hospital. That way, your courtesy turns into rudeness. Remember, Misha, never let anger control your mind!
"Okay, I’ll remember that, Mom."
Xu Li and Natasha embraced briefly before Natasha kissed her cheek. "Take Anna and Eva out for a walk; pregnant women need more exercise."
"Mom, I'll take you all to Confucius Temple; there’s food and fun there!"
He rubbed his face and stood up to go into the inner room, kissing both sisters on their cheeks. "Shall we go out to play? There’s so much delicious food!"
Upon hearing about the fun and food, the two sisters were overjoyed. They hurriedly asked Xu Li to help them put on their shoes and tidy up their hair. With bright smiles, they clung to his arm and headed out the door together with Natasha.
