I said my love for Lisa was like diarrhea—impossible to hold back.
A group of big men burst into laughter, and when Xiao Lao Liu saw everyone laughing so hard, he immediately held back his tears and started to cry loudly. Ivan patted him on the arm, and the blow of heartbreak combined with the raucous laughter from the elders completely shattered his emotional defenses. He ran home to find his mother.
After Xu Li had laughed enough, he took a sip of tea and lit a cigarette. Vasily watched their retreating figures, shook his head, and stretched lazily. "Andreev, have you caught anything?"
"No."
Andreev was always terse; he had been that way for years. Aside from having a couple of drinks during holidays, he rarely touched alcohol, which didn’t seem very Slavic of him. Peter rode up from a distance on horseback. "Stop fishing around and hurry up! There's just been a Tiger Roar in the northern forest."
"Suka Blyat!"
As soon as they heard there was a tiger around, seven or eight men quickly packed their things and tossed them into the truck. After notifying them, Peter took out a walkie-talkie. "Kolechkin, drive the cattle and sheep to the Low Fence; we’ve got trouble here."
"Got it."
The men on duty at the pasture drove the cattle and sheep towards the Low Fence, then all gathered at Xu Li's house. Without saying much, Xu Li opened his slowly modified warehouse, revealing rows of firearms.
Andreev picked up an automatic shotgun, loaded it with shells, and strapped on a belt of ammunition. The others selected their weapons accordingly. Xu Li grabbed one as well. After loading it with large-caliber deer rounds, he chambered a bullet. "Andreev, Kolechkin, Valery, and Peter will go into the woods; the rest should notify the kids at home and lock all doors and windows."
He clapped his hands as he exited the warehouse. "Xiong Da Xiong Er!"
Roar!
Two giant hamsters weighing nearly a thousand pounds each struggled out of the house. Xu Li patted their heads. "Come with us into the forest."
Soon after, a pickup truck carried the five men toward the northern forest of the pasture, with the two large hamsters following closely behind. The dogs ran alongside them, tongues lolling in excitement. Peter glanced in the rearview mirror and thought, "Why do those two look a bit like dogs?"
Xu Li, driving, twitched his mouth slightly and pressed down on the accelerator. The pickup roared as it sped up. Just as they stopped by the Low Fence at the pasture's edge, the resounding Tiger Roar echoed through the trees. The expressions on their faces turned serious; it seemed this tiger was quite large.
After waiting for a while, the two hamsters finally caught up panting heavily. Once they got out of the truck and crossed over the Low Fence, they cautiously made their way into the woods while the two hamsters clumsily climbed over to follow.
Awwoo!
Following the direction of the Tiger Roar, Andreev led the way, tightening his grip on his gun while scanning his surroundings with his piercing blue eyes. Xu Li and the others stood half a step behind him with their weapons raised, keeping watch in all directions. Meanwhile, the two hamsters sniffed around before wagging their tails and running off in one direction.
"Are you two so relaxed that it makes us look foolish?" Xu Li thought to himself but still quickened his pace along with everyone else. After about ten minutes of traversing through some bushes, they finally spotted their target at the base of a dirt slope—a robust Siberian Tiger.
