Xu Weixia stood nervously in front of a slightly worn security door, holding a gift in his hands. As the door swung open, he quickly greeted the woman inside, “I’m a friend of Angelina.” 0

“Come on in, young man,” Yelena said, stepping aside to let him enter. “It’s a bit messy in here, so please don’t mind it.” 0

“Not at all,” he replied, shaking off his nerves. After changing into slippers, he handed the gift to Yelena. “Auntie, it’s my first time here, and I wasn’t sure if you and Uncle would like it.” 0

“Very polite of you,” Yelena said as she took the gift and placed it on the coffee table. She then poured him a cup of tea. “I’m Yelena. And you are?” 0

“Nikola,” Xu Weixia said, his hands resting anxiously on his knees as he fidgeted slightly. He sat up straight, and Yelena couldn’t help but think how handsome this young man was. 0

He stood just over six feet tall; though he appeared somewhat slender due to his age, his broad shoulders hinted at a larger frame that would fill out as he grew older. His black hair was styled in a trendy tousled look. 0

His complexion was fair and delicate, with long, dark eyebrows framing a pair of bright black eyes that conveyed a hint of youthful innocence. His nose was straight and well-defined, and his lips were soft and full. A black sweater hugged his long neck, giving him an overall impression of being both handsome and approachable. 0

His fingers were long and neatly manicured, fidgeting slightly as if he were anxious. Yelena smiled at him and said, “Please have a seat. I’m just preparing lunch while Angelina and her dad are out shopping. They’ll be back soon.” 0

“Auntie, I can cook too. Do you need any help?” Xu Weixia offered shyly. 0

Yelena chuckled softly. “That would be great! I actually need to run out to buy a few things.” 0

“Okay, I’ll take care of it,” he said with newfound determination. 0

He rolled up his sleeves and followed Yelena into the kitchen. After she handed him a clean apron and showed him where the spices and dishes were kept, she put on her coat and boots before heading out. 0

Once downstairs, she pulled out her phone to call her husband. “The young man is quite nice; he’s just a bit shy and not very bold. Please don’t scare him off.” 0

“Oh? This kid is trying to take my daughter away, and I can’t say anything?” her husband replied with a hint of teasing in his voice before hanging up. 0

Meanwhile, Angelina was busy selecting snacks at the store, tossing her favorite treats into the shopping cart. “Dad, don’t scare him!” 0

“Alright, alright! Dad won’t scare him,” her father said with a chuckle. “But if I think he’s not suitable for you, don’t blame me!” 0

“Don’t worry, Dad! You’re going to like him for sure.” 0

Seeing his daughter smiling brightly, he couldn't help but feel a tinge of bitterness as he smiled back. The child was growing up. 0

In the kitchen, Xu Weixia was busy and found it strange. The kitchenware, plates, and seasonings in this house were mostly new. Even the refrigerator and other appliances were brand new, which felt somewhat out of place compared to the slightly outdated kitchen. However, he didn't dwell on it; perhaps they had money but not enough budget to renovate everything at once, so they replaced the small items first. 0

Due to a lack of spices, he could only prepare some simple dishes. Determined to impress his father-in-law and mother-in-law in the future, he was putting in all his effort. He could only rely on his culinary skills so much; for that, he would need a full array of seasonings and ingredients. He would have to call his dad for remote guidance! 0
