Anna slowly chewed her food, and after swallowing, she kissed her husband on the lips before heading to the bedroom to wash up. Once Xu Li brought breakfast to the table, Peter was just coming back from the gym. He sat down, ready to eat, but was met with a slap on the back of his head from Xu Li. "Wash your face, brush your teeth, and take a shower first. And wake Lisa up; the venison needs to be eaten while it's hot."
Peter dared not defy Old Father and quickly got up to head to the bedroom. Xu Li glanced at the time and went out to the yard, sitting down on the steps. She lit a cigarette and called her brother-in-law. "Have you gotten up yet, Boyka?"
"Ah, just got up," came a deep voice from the other end of the line. "What's up, Misha?"
"I've expanded the ranch here and caught over a dozen moose. I also bought more than five hundred reindeer and need someone to help me guard the ranch."
He flicked off some ash from his cigarette. "I need young people who can move their whole families over here. You should have some elite soldiers in your unit who were injured and reassigned to easier posts, right? I want those kinds!"
"You’re planning to form a mercenary group with elite soldiers?" Boyka rolled his eyes, reaching under the blanket to scratch himself.
"I do have some old comrades and former subordinates here, but about the pay..."
"Each month pays eighty-five thousand rubles. That's what my men earn here. Additionally, I’ll provide two cows, two pigs, and ten sheep as well as a share of profits—estimating around two hundred thousand rubles or so. The profit share will depend on ranch earnings, plus I’ll buy them commercial insurance."
Xu Li flicked her cigarette butt away. "Aren't my conditions good enough? Our village has two public buses that run daily to Bratsk. Recently, we cleared a large piece of land for them to build houses and farm. In summer and winter, their wives will need to come work at my ranch for six hundred thousand rubles each month."
"I'll give you as many as you need; they’re all my old subordinates, and it makes me happy to see them doing well."
Boyka knew his brother-in-law had money but didn’t expect him to be this wealthy. He happily replied, "Is one hundred enough? If not, I can arrange more."
"Why would I need that many?" Xu Li rolled her eyes. "About ten or so would be enough. Their job will be patrolling the woods. Soldiers are much stronger than ordinary men in the village; they can handle danger easily. I don't lack ordinary laborers."
"Got it then; I'll arrange it for you shortly. It’ll probably take half a month for them to get there; they’ll need time to pack up and sell their houses."
Just after he hung up, a slender woman emerged from under the covers, biting her sensual lips. "Teacher, my brother is coming this year."
Boyka leaned against the headboard, lit another cigarette slowly while thinking. He picked up his phone again and dialed another number. "Yelena, didn't your brother get injured and retire from Alpha? The treatment here is far better than in that corrupt army."
He had only arranged jobs for those with whom he had close ties; after all, who didn’t have poor relatives? Helping them out would only strengthen others' resolve to stand by him!
After finishing several calls one by one, Boyka pressed the woman beneath him and pinched her cheek gently. "Your brother will have a spot here; having followed me for two years means I won’t let you suffer!"
Then they fell onto the big bed together.
