"Come on, help me out here. I heard the conditions are good where you are, and many of my subordinates want to bring their families over. You know how things are back home; it's not easy for me either. They are all my soldiers, and if I can't treat them fairly, how can I lead this team? Don't you agree?"
Xu Li sat in his office, smoking one cigarette after another. "Boyka, do you think I'm a pig to be slaughtered? I only need about ten people, and you're giving me double. What are you going to do with the extra resources?"
"I just took over this division, and some people need to be won over. Just consider it helping your brother out. I'll give you ten slots; once their service ends, they can transfer to Bratsk and Irkutsk. You can decide which departments they go to; that should be fair enough, right?"
Boyka took a sip of the red tea handed to him by a female soldier, then placed it on the table as his hands began to wander. "Among those people, there's a young man named Popov from my hometown. Can you find him an easier position?"
"What's his character like?"
"Don't worry; he's a decent guy. He used to help others raise reindeer back home, so taking care of cattle at your place will be no problem."
Upon hearing that he raised reindeer, Xu Li's eyes lit up with a hint of dissatisfaction. "Alright, just this once. But be careful playing around with women outside; if Sister Lina catches you, you might end up losing your little Boyka."
"Haha, thanks in advance then."
After hanging up the phone, Boyka gave the female soldier a playful slap on the backside. "Call your brother and give him the address. Tell him to call me when he arrives."
"Thank you, Teacher."
The female soldier happily left the office while Boyka initiated a video call with his wife. "Darling, I did an undercover check last night. I'll be home for dinner tonight; remember to prepare a cold soup for me."
Lina wasn't bad-looking; she worked at a hospital and was often too busy to keep tabs on her husband. However, her husband's enthusiastic attitude when he returned home made her believe he couldn't possibly be cheating on her.
On the other side of the line, Xu Li found Andreev working at the ranch. "In a while, a family will be moving in with strong laborers under thirty years old. Arrange for someone to cut down the trees in that western area these days; it will connect both pieces of land and provide timber for building houses."
Andreev nodded and went off to make arrangements. After all, even women can help with feeding animals, which would free up men for logging. The ranch was getting bigger and having more strong laborers would make things easier.
Xu Li called his brother-in-law Vasily. "Brother Three, Boyka has given me quite a challenge this time! I only need about ten people."
"He's sending over a list of what’s needed for construction and renovation; he'll have everything delivered in three days. Consider it my contribution this time."
Vasily grinned widely; his sister's husband had some serious connections! In a place like Moscow, he could help his son Xie Liaosha with matters like this. Taking this opportunity to send some gifts as thanks seemed perfect. After hanging up the phone, he stepped outside to call a few responsible individuals.
