Kolechkin approached with a wide grin, lighting a cigarette and pushing the angry village chief back to the office. "I just wrote an IOU. You just need to press your thumbprint here, and I'll pay you back little by little. In no time, it'll be settled." 0

"Who do you think we are? What IOU are you talking about?" Xu Li tossed a cheeky pink whip onto the table, took a drag from his cigarette, and tore up the IOU that Kolechkin had written. Kolechkin sighed, "I still haven't paid back the money I borrowed." 0

"Your Old Five is different from Kozilov," he continued, shaking off the ash from his cigarette. "Old Five went to Saint Petersburg to live. The cost of living there is high; renting is not worth it compared to buying a house. It's only right for you to support him a bit. As for Kozilov, he works on my ranch and can manage his wedding expenses on his own." 0

"The kid has grown up and understands things now. He won't resent you for giving him less money; after all, he has taken over your position early. Little Guy knows what's what; he works harder than Zhukov and the others. I like kids like him." 0

Seeing that Kolechkin wanted to say something more, he waved his hand. "I just talked to him about building a house together. It won't cost much—at most, you'll need to provide a few meals. The land and timber are free, and I'll help him pick out furniture and appliances later. But for the wedding banquet expenses, that's still something you as his father need to cover." 0

"It's not much money. My Small Farm still has nine cows and several sheep. I can trade a few pigs with others, and maybe buy some cigarettes, alcohol, and candy. But I need to borrow some money first before I can pay you back." 0

"That’s all manageable." Kolechkin smiled gratefully at Xu Li, stood up, and they embraced before he left the office. However, as Old Russian walked away, what was up with that look? He scratched his chin and glanced at the desk. 0

"Uncle Ivan has cucumbers and tomatoes for you." Natasha, with her two braids tied up, slid down from the back of Large Dog, her little pink dress fluttering as she approached Xiao Qing with freshly picked vegetables from Valery's greenhouse. 0

Ivan took the cucumbers and tomatoes, grinning as he started eating them heartily. Seeing him enjoy the food made the little girl happy; she beamed at him with her mouth wide open. "Is it good?" 0

"Very good." He ruffled her hair and gave her a gentle pat on her bottom after finishing. "Uncle still has work to do; go find Pelova and play with them." 0

"Okay! Bye-bye, Uncle Ivan." Natasha patted Large Dog's rear end. The hefty Siberian dog lay down on the grass until she climbed onto its back before it slowly got up and headed back to the Cattle Shed. Once Large Dog was far enough away, Ivan lit a cigarette and climbed onto the massive machine to continue spraying chemicals over the vast Cornfield. 0

Unknowingly, half the day had passed. Lana had also come to terms with reality; she had tried to entice Makarov before but found that he showed no interest in her at all. He would rather choose those sisters who were less beautiful than her than even touch her once, which puzzled her greatly. 0

Finally mustering her courage, she pulled him into the yard as he emerged from Daria's bedroom after adjusting his pants. "I know I can't marry you; you've been really good to me and Natasha. I want to repay you." 0
