Grandpa, Grandpa, I want to drive a tank.
With only a few days left before the holiday ended, Yekaterina tugged at Xu Li's hand, her little bottom sticking out as she pulled him toward the warehouse. She pointed at the steel beast inside. "I want to drive this big tank!"
"Can you wait until you’re a bit older?"
Xu Li picked up his granddaughter and kissed her cheek. The little girl kept pouting and insisting that she wanted to sit in it and play. Eventually, he relented, changing into appropriate clothes and putting a tank hat on her head. He carefully set her down in the co-driver's seat and fastened her seatbelt.
Xu Weixia and Peter approached with cheerful expressions. "Dad, do you need our help moving the cannonball?"
"No need; this is an automatic fire control system. I don’t need you big fools."
Thinking back to when he had almost been blown up by a cannonball, Xu Li felt a bit annoyed. The two brothers shrank back their necks and helped open the warehouse door, watching as the tank roared away. They exchanged glances, shrugged their shoulders, and returned inside to continue chatting with their mother.
Boom!
The little girl clapped her hands excitedly from the co-driver's seat, grinning widely. "Awesome! Grandpa, let’s go faster and shoot!"
"Hold on tight!"
With one foot on the gas pedal, Xu Li roared across the snowy expanse of the ranch. Under his control, the main battle tank maneuvered like a car, making sharp turns and drifting, providing a thrilling sensory experience that made the little girl scream with delight.
Boom! Vroom! Boom!
After racing across the vast snowy fields for over an hour and firing off several blank rounds, Xu Li finally brought a satisfied Yekaterina back to their yard. Perhaps it was too much excitement; that night, the little girl surprisingly wet the bed.
Lao San and Zhuo Ya had been scolded back from Sanya to help Old Father look after the large ranch while Xu Li took Old Son and his wife back to Huaxia. After spending a few days in Jinling, they headed to Sanya for vacation—sunshine, sandy beaches, and beautiful waves were accompanied by various lovely ladies.
No wonder Lao San was reluctant to return.
Xu Li lounged on a sun chair enjoying the sunbathing while Anna and Eva rode jet skis, having fun in the sea. His phone began vibrating in his pocket. He pulled it out and frowned.
"Hello?"
"Is this Mr. Xu Li?"
"Yes."
"We have noticed significant suspicious activity in your account over recent months, which has now been frozen by our department. Please..."
Suddenly, the voice on the other end paused before continuing sternly: "Mr. Xu, I’m discussing serious matters with you; please..."
"Stop messing around with me!"
Xu Li lit a cigarette and blew out a ring of smoke. "You lot can't even speak Mandarin properly, yet you dare to call me?"
Mr. Xu replied, "Having an accent is normal. We have all undergone professional training, so please cooperate with our work."
"What? Now you need professional training just to make a phone call? Do you even have a certification for that?"
He shook his foot in amusement. "How much money have you scammed this month? Is it enough to buy you out of the industrial park? I heard that if your performance doesn't meet the standards, they'll cut you off. Is that true?"
