Grandma, undeterred, placed her hands on her hips and glared fiercely. "Oh, you dare come to me for a debate? Who doesn't know about your family's little troubles? Don't think that playing the victim will fool anyone!"
"You’re talking nonsense!" Aunt Wang nearly shouted, "Why don’t you bring out some evidence?"
Grandma let out a cold laugh and tapped her palm with her fan. "Evidence? Ha! My word is evidence! Who doesn’t know I’m the most reasonable person around here?"
Her words drew a chuckle from the onlookers, but no one dared to speak up for Aunt Wang.
They stood at a distance, whispering among themselves, some even wearing expressions of schadenfreude.
This scene made me feel sick.
These people clearly knew the truth but chose silence out of fear of Grandma's venomous tongue.
Aunt Wang trembled with anger, her eyes red. "You... you are simply unreasonable!"
"Unreasonable?" Grandma lifted her chin defiantly. "Someone like you thinks you can reason with me?"
The more she scolded, the more aggressive she became, even advancing toward Aunt Wang and poking her forehead with a finger. "Let me tell you, in this territory, I have the final say!"
Aunt Wang stumbled backward from the pokes but dared not retaliate against the elder; she could only shield her forehead with her hands and cry helplessly.
At that moment, I felt the fury in my chest nearly explode, but I forced myself to calm down and quietly reached into my pocket to pull out my phone.
I activated the recording function, aiming it at the scene in the yard.
In the frame, Grandma was screaming hysterically, while Aunt Wang stood there like a frightened little bird, helpless and vulnerable.
Shadows of people moved around, yet no one stepped forward to intervene.
Everything was clearly captured, including Grandma's twisted and contorted face, along with the venomous words spewing from her mouth.
My fingertips trembled slightly, but not from fear; it was excitement—
This was the evidence I had been searching for!
Just then, Grandma suddenly extended her age-spotted hands and forcefully shoved Aunt Wang!
"Get out! Don't embarrass yourself here!"
Caught off guard, Aunt Wang stumbled backward, nearly falling to the ground.
A low gasp of shock rippled through the crowd, yet still no one dared to step in and help her.
I watched with clenched teeth but remained calm, keeping the camera focused on everything without missing a single detail.
"That's enough!" Aunt Wang finally reached her breaking point, her voice tinged with a desperate cry. "Old Lady, don't push me too far! I will seek justice for this today!"
"Seeking justice?" Grandma scoffed, "Go ahead! If you have the guts, file a complaint and see who believes your nonsense!"
Aunt Wang covered her mouth and began to sob, unable to utter a word, before turning and fleeing the crowd.
The onlookers gradually dispersed, leaving behind a few meaningful comments:
"Ah, that Old Lady is really something..."
"Who can blame her for being sharp-tongued? It's better to avoid provoking her."
Once everyone had left, I tucked my phone away and turned to leave my hiding spot.
As I walked home, the video I had just recorded replayed in my mind.
Grandma, the best part is yet to come.
As soon as I stepped through the door, a worn-out slipper came flying toward my face.
Grandma's anger arrived faster than I had anticipated.
"You little brat! Are you tired of living?" She stood in the middle of the living room, hands on her hips, like a lioness ready to pounce.
