Zhao Yunyi's shout left Lin Yuan momentarily stunned. "Danger? What danger? Dr. X can't possibly have ambush troops ready, can he? That would be enough for an entire battalion!"
Before he could fully process the situation, the alarm in the laboratory blared suddenly, its shrill sound vibrating through his eardrums, louder than a market vendor's megaphone.
"This is bad! We've fallen into a trap! That old trickster is using diversion tactics, slipping away like a cicada shedding its shell, and fabricating something out of nothing..." Lin Yuan grumbled about Dr. X's cunning strategies while realizing that this was clearly a trap—far more sophisticated than his previous schemes of digging pits for others.
Before he could finish his thought, the walls of the laboratory cracked open—not just ordinary cracks, but gaping holes as if a giant can opener had violently pried them apart, revealing a dark passage. Dozens of soldiers clad in black Battle Armor poured out, brandishing Laser Guns that resembled something straight out of a sci-fi movie, aiming directly at Lin Yuan. The scene was so intense that one might think they were about to film a prequel to Star Wars.
"What the hell is going on? Did the interstellar crew crash the set?" Lin Yuan quipped, though he didn't dare let his guard down. Despite his confidence and skill, he knew that even the bravest warrior couldn't take on many foes at once—especially when they wielded high-tech weaponry. If he were to be caught in a barrage of Laser Gun fire, he'd end up like Swiss cheese.
He activated the Time Manipulator, and time seemed to slow down as if someone had pressed the slow-motion button. The soldiers' movements appeared sluggish, like sloths crawling through molasses, and the beams from their Laser Guns moved as slowly as snails. "Heh, you think you can play with speed? You clearly don't know that in martial arts, speed is everything!" Lin Yuan smirked as he vanished from sight and reappeared in front of one soldier, delivering a powerful punch right to his face.
With a resounding "bang!" instead of exploding like a watermelon, the soldier's head deflated like a punctured balloon, knocking him out cold. Lin Yuan had no intention of turning the scene into a bloody mess; cleaning up would be too much trouble.
"Ah!" Zhao Yunyi gasped in shock, instinctively covering her eyes but peeking through her fingers. Although she had witnessed many grand spectacles before, this sci-fi-like battle was unlike anything she had ever seen—both terrifying and fascinating.
"What are you afraid of? This is just an appetizer!" Lin Yuan laughed heartily as he continued to attack the other soldiers. Using both fists and feet, he struck pressure points and took them down one by one until they piled up like a small mountain. He didn't want to kill anyone; after all, these people were merely following orders—innocent bystanders in this chaotic game.
"Damn it! Why is this kid so difficult to deal with?" Dr. X seethed from the monitoring room, his face pale with disbelief. He hadn't anticipated Lin Yuan's strength would be so formidable—far more troublesome than he had expected.
"Activate the backup plan! Deploy the Mechanical Armor!" he shouted into the communicator, his voice cracking under pressure.
Suddenly, the ground of the laboratory split open as a massive metallic figure slowly rose from within. It wasn't just any Mechanical Armor; it was over two meters tall—a steel giant gleaming silver with sleek lines that exuded futuristic technology, reminiscent of an upgraded Iron Man.
"Wow, Iron Man Plus?" Lin Yuan marveled at the imposing figure before him. "This thing looks interesting!"
The eyes of the Mechanical Armor suddenly lit up with two blue beams that locked onto Lin Yuan. "Kid, prepare to die!" Dr. X's voice echoed from within the armor, dripping with malice like a classic villain's line.
The Mechanical Armor raised its enormous arm and swung a fist toward Lin Yuan with lightning speed and overwhelming force.
"Bring it on!" Lin Yuan charged forward instead of retreating, ready to meet the Mechanical Armor's punch head-on. He wasn't foolish enough to engage in a direct confrontation; that wasn't his style.
He swayed slightly and executed a move known as "Lingbo Microstep," effortlessly dodging the attack from the Mechanical Armor. He then circled around to its back and delivered a powerful palm strike.
With a loud "thud," a massive Palm Print appeared on the back of the Mechanical Armor, but it didn’t sustain any significant damage; it seemed that this thing had formidable defenses after all.
Lin Yuan was undeterred and continued to maneuver around the Mechanical Armor, searching for its weaknesses. He noticed that while the Mechanical Armor possessed immense strength, its speed and agility were lacking compared to his own, which was where his advantage lay.
Suddenly, an idea struck him, and a sly smile crept across his face. He activated the Time Manipulator, briefly halting time, and swiftly approached the Mechanical Armor’s head, shoving a small seed into its ear.
"Hey hey, here’s a little gift for you!" Lin Yuan chuckled.
As time resumed its flow, the Mechanical Armor suddenly felt an itch in its ear and instinctively reached up to scratch it. However, its movements grew slower and more sluggish until it eventually came to a complete stop.
"What’s happening?" Dr. X's voice emanated from within the Mechanical Armor, filled with confusion and unease.
"Hehe, want to know? I'll let you in on a secret: I just planted a 'Time Stopped' seed in your ear, and now it's starting to sprout!" Lin Yuan explained with a grin.
"What? Time Stopped? How is that possible!" Dr. X's voice was filled with shock and disbelief.
"Nothing is impossible! In this world, there’s nothing you can’t imagine that I can’t achieve!" Lin Yuan declared confidently.
He stepped up to the Mechanical Armor and gave it a gentle push; it toppled over like a small mountain, lying motionless on the ground.
"Done!" Lin Yuan clapped his hands together, looking quite relaxed.
"Damn it! You’ve really pissed me off now!" Dr. X's voice turned hysterical. "Next, I’ll show you what I’m capable of!"
He pressed a red button, and suddenly, the lab was filled with an ear-piercing alarm.
"Warning! Self-destruct sequence initiated!" a cold electronic voice announced.
“Damn, is he really going this far? Has this old man gone mad?” Lin Yuan's expression changed as he realized that Dr. X was determined to take them both down.
He quickly grabbed Zhao Yunyi and activated the Time Manipulator, slowing down time once more.
“Let’s go!” Lin Yuan said, holding Zhao Yunyi tightly as he vanished from the laboratory in an instant.
With a deafening explosion, the laboratory erupted in flames, fire shooting into the sky and thick smoke billowing out, as if the apocalypse had arrived.
Lin Yuan reappeared outside the Experimental Base, cradling Zhao Yunyi in his arms. He looked at the distant blaze and let out a long sigh of relief.
“Finally escaped!” Lin Yuan exclaimed. He turned to glance at Zhao Yunyi, only to find that she had already lost consciousness.
“It seems I need to find a place for her to rest,” Lin Yuan thought to himself.
Carrying Zhao Yunyi, he began walking toward the horizon.
The fiery explosion cast a crimson glow across the sky, heralding what felt like the end of days.
Lin Yuan's silhouette appeared particularly solitary against the backdrop of flames, but he felt no fear; he knew that his battle was just beginning.
Where was Nan Gong Xuan? Where could he be?
