"Let's go and check the situation by the river." 0

I led Yue Ya and Daughter-in-law, each of us donning a raincoat, as we struggled through the wind and rain towards the riverbank. 0

Upon reaching the river, my heart sank at the sight before me. 0

The riverbank had long been soaked and crumbled, riddled with holes. 0

The water had burst through the dam, creating massive gaps, and the rushing current surged forth like a stampede of wild horses, roaring continuously. 0

Not far away, several villagers were desperately trying to block those gaps with sandbags, their faces drenched in rain and sweat. 0

Yet, even with their efforts, facing the furious waters made their attempts seem utterly insignificant and futile. 0

"Brother Lao San, what are we going to do? 0

The riverbank won't hold for much longer," one villager said, his face etched with worry and his voice tinged with despair. 0

I slowly shook my head, my mind a chaotic mess, and could only comfort myself by saying, 0

"We can only hope that heaven will take pity on us and let this rain stop soon." 0

However, it seemed that heaven had not heard the pleas of us pitiful souls. 0

The rain not only showed no signs of stopping but instead grew heavier. 0

The breaches in the riverbank multiplied, and the situation became increasingly dire. 0

Before long, a deafening roar echoed through the air as the riverbank finally gave way and collapsed completely. 0

In an instant, the flood surged forth like a wild horse unleashed, rushing toward the village with unstoppable force. 0

“Run!” I shouted, grabbing Yue Ya and Daughter-in-law by the hands and turning to sprint back. 0

But the flood came too quickly; in the blink of an eye, it had submerged the riverbank and was racing toward the village. 0

We ran desperately along the muddy path, but the flood's speed was far greater than we had anticipated. 0

Just as we were about to reach home, I instinctively glanced back and saw that the raging waters had already covered the village path and were bearing down on us with ferocity. 0

I gritted my teeth and made a snap decision to change direction, heading toward the back mountain. 0

“Dad, I’m so scared!” 0

Yue Ya clung tightly to my shirt, her little face pale with fear as she trembled. 0

“Don’t be afraid, sweetheart; Dad is here!” 0

I comforted her while desperately quickening my pace. 0

As I neared the foot of the mountain, the relentless flood was already closing in behind us. 0

I turned back, and a chill ran through me— the flood loomed like a towering wall of water, surging towards us as if it intended to swallow us whole. 0

I ran forward with all my might, but my legs felt as heavy as lead, growing increasingly unresponsive. 0

Suddenly, I stumbled and fell hard to the ground. 0

Yue Ya was thrown off balance by my fall, and Daughter-in-law was beside herself, calling out my name in panic. 0

I struggled to get up, but just then, a massive boulder rolled down from the mountain, landing squarely on my leg. 0

“Father!” 0

Yue Ya let out a piercing scream… 0

I lay there helplessly, pinned down by the boulder, unable to move no matter how hard I tried. 0

All I could do was watch in despair as the raging flood surged towards us like a wild beast. 0

“Father! Mother!” 0
