Yue Ya, with tear-streaked cheeks, cried out as she rushed to my side, her small hands desperately trying to move the heavy stone.
But how could such a little child possibly lift it?
Her cries sounded so faint against the deafening roar of the flood, as if they could be swallowed at any moment.
The Daughter-in-law was also frantic, kneeling on the ground with a thud, digging at the stone with all her might, trying to shift it.
But the merciless flood was already creeping over her ankles, the icy water soaking through her clothes in an instant, yet she paid no attention to it.
“Lao San, you have to hold on!”
The Daughter-in-law shouted at me through her tears, but her voice was quickly drowned out by the surging waters.
I looked at Yue Ya; her once rosy face was now pale with fear, tears streaming down like pearls from a broken string.
I felt a deep sense of urgency, yet I was powerless, filled with helplessness and pain.
Grinding my teeth, I exerted all my strength to push the stone aside, but it felt as if it were rooted in place, refusing to budge.
“Don’t be afraid, sweetheart; Daddy is here!”
I shouted to Yue Ya, but as soon as the words left my mouth, I was choked by the floodwaters and began to cough violently.
The icy water had risen to my waist now, chilling me to the bone. I could feel my strength slowly draining away, my body growing numb.
Yue Ya continued to cry, her small hands gripping my arm tightly.
The force was so strong that it felt as if her fingers were digging into my flesh. I knew she was scared and helpless.
I looked at her, filled with guilt, and said with a trembling voice, "My daughter, I'm sorry. I couldn't protect you well..."
Just then, a surge of floodwaters rushed in, and the massive wave nearly swallowed us whole.
Despair washed over me as I closed my eyes, thinking that this time, there was truly no escape.
But at that critical moment, I suddenly heard a soft chime from the pendant around Yue Ya's neck.
In the next instant, a brilliant golden light burst forth. The radiance was so intense that I could barely open my eyes, instinctively squinting against it.
Before I could fully comprehend what was happening, I felt a powerful and mysterious force emanating from the pendant, as if the entire world was illuminated by this light.
This force enveloped us with a gentle warmth.
It felt like an invisible hand lifting the heavy stone pressing down on my leg.
I distinctly sensed the weight on my leg suddenly lighten, and with every ounce of strength left in me, I struggled to pull my leg free from beneath the stone.
Then, we were slowly lifted by an unseen force, gradually rising to the surface of the water.
I cautiously opened my eyes and saw a dazzling golden light continuously radiating from Yue Ya's pendant.
The light illuminated the entire sky...
We floated in the air, witnessing the golden glow emitted by the Pendant around Yue Ya's neck growing increasingly dazzling, lighting up everything around us as bright as day.
“Daddy, are we going to die?”
Yue Ya's voice was thick with tears.
I clenched my teeth in silence, filled with helplessness and bitterness.
But I forced myself to muster some courage and said calmly, “Don’t be afraid, my daughter. I’m here, and I will never let anything happen to you.”
Just as I spoke, a deafening roar suddenly echoed from the sky.
Instinctively, I looked up and saw a massive ship radiating Golden Light slowly descending from above.
Onboard stood several Warriors clad in golden helmets and armor, their bodies emanating a dazzling brilliance, like celestial beings descending from the heavens, exuding an extraordinary presence.
“What on earth is happening?”
