Jia Xingliang did not respond. He took out a piece of red talisman paper, intending to burn the Skullhead to ashes. However, this time, when he summoned the talisman, no fierce flames appeared. Instead, black mist poured out from the Skullhead, creeping along the blade of the Seven Star Sword like maggots on decaying flesh.
The Seven Star Sword already contained Yin Fiend Energy, but it was only usable by Jia Xingliang due to the talisman array he had enhanced it with. Now, however, the Skullhead's Sha Qi invaded, eroding the runes left on the sword by Jia Xingliang and gradually diminishing their effectiveness.
The black mist slithered down the blade towards the hilt. Jia Xingliang quickly produced five copper coins and pressed them against the hilt. The coins emitted a faint glow, resisting the spread of the black mist, but ultimately proved too weak against it and were soon covered. Jia Xingliang's expression grew serious; though reluctant, he had no choice but to toss the Seven Star Sword aside.
Tu Li seized the opportunity to pick up the Seven Star Sword and examined it with a smile. "This sword has such dense Yin Fiend Energy; I think it suits me better. After all, I am a practitioner of dark arts."
Jia Xingliang frowned, his expression shifting as Tu Li's words were clearly a jab at him. "Tu Li, this Seven Star Sword is not some evil artifact. It has merely absorbed Yin Fiend Energy over time while lying in a place of dark malevolence. You are not worthy to wield it," Jia Xingliang retorted, though his confidence was lacking compared to before.
Jia Xingliang had underestimated Tu Li, believing that after thirty years of rapid progress on his part, Tu Li would have stagnated. He was confident he could fight Tu Li, but he did not anticipate that Tu Li's cultivation would be far beyond his reach.
"If I am unworthy, then this sword would not be in my hands. You can't even protect your own magical artifact and dare to challenge me? It's laughable. Today, I will kill you first and then go after your master," Tu Li sneered.
At that moment, the Seven Star Sword had turned as black as ink, resembling ebony. Tu Li removed the Skullhead, which began to heal its own cracks.
In this confrontation, Jia Xingliang was clearly at a disadvantage and bound to lose.
