"Dear in-laws, we're all friends here; perhaps you could say a little less." Although the bride's father was dissatisfied with the Liu Family, his daughter was already engaged to their son. No matter what, they were still in-laws. Seeing Han Baiying's aggressive tone and the apparent deep conflict between her and Jiang Chen, the bride's father felt compelled to intervene. His name was Li Daotian, and seeing how young and capable Jiang Chen was, he naturally wanted to foster a closer relationship.
"Your son-in-law has been beaten up, and as his father-in-law, don't you think you should stand up for him? Asking me to say less? Our Liu Family is a prestigious family on Hong Kong Island; when have we ever been treated like this?" Han Baiying continued her tirade.
"They're all young; their tempers are a bit fiery. I see that Jiyue isn't hurt. Why don't we just let this go? Let's all take a step back," Li Daotian suggested. Deep down, he didn't think much of his son-in-law but wanted to maintain good relations with Jiang Chen.
"Ha! Taking a step back is fine, as long as he apologizes to my son," Han Baiying sneered. If it weren't for Jiang Chen's strength, even an apology from him wouldn't placate her; she believed she was already being quite generous by even considering it.
Li Daotian glanced at Jiang Chen. In his view, since Jiang Chen had resorted to violence, an apology was warranted.
"Jiang Chen, I'm also from Domestic; my name is Li Daotian. Let's call it a favor; I'll refer to you as my nephew. Although Jiyue may have been rude, he's still my son-in-law. Just give your uncle some face and apologize to Jiyue; let's put this matter behind us," Li Daotian said politely and tactfully.
"Uncle Li, considering that the Liu Family is still standing here today, I've already shown them considerable face. Otherwise, they should all be dead by now," Jiang Chen replied.
Li Daotian was taken aback and didn't know what to say.
"Jiang Chen, don't think that just because you have some skills you can threaten murder! Our Liu Family has already given you eight billion in profit; is this how you treat us?" Han Baiying shouted as she helped her son Liu Jiyue up.
Jiang Chen glanced at Han Baiying but remained silent. Instead, he scanned the crowd and gestured for Guo Weiqing to come forward.
Guo Weiqing felt anxious but stepped forward nonetheless.
"Miss Guo, how much did you distribute to me?" Jiang Chen asked.
Guo Weiqing understood his intention and quickly replied, "Mr. Jiang, since we're splitting it 80-20, this time I've allocated four hundred eighty billion to you."
"And so what? It's clear that their profits are higher; that's why they can give you more," Han Baiying argued. To her mind, the eight billion given by the Liu Family was already an astronomical figure; Jiang Chen should be satisfied with that.
"Liu Shao, what do you think?" Jiang Chen asked Liu Toukang with a smile that wasn't quite a smile.
"Uh, Mr. Jiang, I’m not as good at business as Miss Guo; I didn’t maximize profits and feel quite ashamed," Liu Toukang stammered nervously but forced himself to lie through his teeth.
