The old man stared at the words and patterns on the paper, his brow furrowed, remaining silent for a long time. Su Yizhi and the others stood by, not daring to breathe, fearing they might disturb his thoughts. After a long while, the old man slowly set down the paper, raised his head, and his eyes were filled with worry.
"I have seen some of these symbols and characters in an ancient text before. Although they are not exactly the same, there are some similarities. They seem to be related to an ancient mysterious organization that has been secretly searching for a powerful force. It is said that possessing this power would allow one to control the world," the old man said slowly.
Fu Xingchen quickly asked, "Elder, do you know what this power is? Also, what connection do these symbols have with the plans of this mysterious organization?" The old man shook his head. "I only know a little. There are no exact records of what this power is. However, from these symbols, it appears they are conducting some kind of ritual, possibly to awaken or acquire this power."
Mu Yunfan pondered for a moment before saying, "If that's the case, the conspiracy of this mysterious organization may be even more terrifying than we imagined. If they succeed, the common people will suffer." The old man sighed. "Indeed, this world is already unstable. If this evil power falls into the hands of wrongdoers, the consequences would be unimaginable."
Su Yizhi looked at the old man earnestly and said, "Elder, you are so knowledgeable; please tell us more so we can prepare early and thwart their conspiracy."
The old man nodded. "As far as I know, this mysterious organization has always hidden in the shadows. Their influence is widespread and their methods are cruel. They spare no effort to achieve their goals and have been secretly searching for various clues and treasures over the years. The stone platform you found in the forest might very well be one of their key locations for conducting rituals."
Lin Yu asked from the side, "What should we do now? Should we destroy that stone platform?" The old man waved his hand. "Do not act rashly. We do not fully understand the secrets behind these symbols and rituals yet. Destroying the stone platform without caution could lead to even more serious consequences. Moreover, the mysterious organization will certainly have other contingencies."
Fu Xingchen thought for a moment and said, "We can continue our investigation and gather more clues about this mysterious organization and this power. Based on our previous encounters, they will likely take action nearby; if we keep a close watch, we should be able to find some leads." Everyone felt that Fu Xingchen's suggestion made sense and nodded in agreement.
After bidding farewell to the old man, they returned to their lodging and began discussing their next plan. Su Yizhi said, "Let's split into several small groups to scout around the town and near the forest. If anything unusual happens, report back immediately." Fu Xingchen continued, " brother Mu and I will take care of the forest direction; Brother Su, you and Lin Yu will gather information in town; Brother Zhao Gang will stay at our lodging just in case." Everyone agreed without objection and prepared to act.
As night fell, Fu Xingchen and Mu Yunfan quietly entered the forest. They cautiously approached the area where they had previously discovered the stone platform and hid nearby to observe. They saw several black lanterns lit on the stone platform, casting an eerie glow. A few figures dressed in black moved back and forth around the platform as if waiting for something.
Fu Xingchen whispered to Mu Yunfan, " brother Mu, it seems they have plans again tonight; let's be careful." Mu Yunfan nodded as they closely watched every move of the figures in black. After a while, a person clad in a black robe slowly approached; his figure appeared particularly mysterious in the darkness. The robed figure walked up to the stone platform and seemed to be murmuring something while holding a black box which he gently placed on top of it.
Fu Xingchen and Mu Yunfan exchanged glances, both seeing confusion in each other's eyes. They decided to continue observing to see what the robed figure would do next. Suddenly, symbols on the stone platform emitted a burst of light that grew brighter until it illuminated the entire forest. The figures in black all knelt down, chanting incomprehensible words aloud.
A sense of foreboding surged within Fu Xingchen as he turned to Mu Yunfan and said, "Brother Mu, something feels off. We can't wait any longer; we need to find a way to stop them." Mu Yunfan nodded in agreement, and the two prepared to rush out. Just then, a group of men in black suddenly emerged from the woods, surrounding them completely.
